yes, the dual climate - unless it is on full blast...the volume of air drops dramatically as you go down one notch...full blast it is!

Dual climate but no real issues, even in the HOT and Humid as Hell Houston Summer heat. If not on "Recycle" it is not near as effective.

Even in my work truck I will drive a minute or so with the windows down to help cool off the cabin a bit, get some cross flow to help get some of the hot stale air out.

Had a ton of AC issues with my old car, there are many issues that can affect airflow, there are blending dampers that could be out of position, clogged cabin filter will restrict air flow, anything that restricts the amount of air on the suction side of the blower motor will prevent it from discharging the correct CFM. Poor electrical connections can also restrict the amount of power available to your blower motor, a dirty fan wheel is unlikely but would also restrict flow.

Yep me too. Grandfather had me doing that as a kid. Crack the back windows to get stale air out with the AC on.

Wondering if swapping the blower fan to a bigger one is an option or is increasing the voltage to the fan an option? Im sure theirs someone smarter than I might know.

Not sure if bigger fan is available. You could pull to inspect, make sure in good shape and no trash or obstructions.

I replaced a dead fan/motor recently. Troubleshooting power/speed switch I checked voltage at the harness to motor and got 0-12 volts incremental (Low to High) with the switch. This could verify your switch and power. New fan was like $120 online, $170 at dealer.

    New fan, old fan.

Another good question to ask yourselves especially if it used to blow more CFM and now it’s not. Does it work better on recirculate or fresh air? Check the intake on the cowl. Take out the filter and see if it changes anything just for testing purposes. See if you can get your arm or hand in there to feel for any foam/debris blocking any of the ducting or actuators. Remove the blower motor and check that direction as well. Are all the doors/actuators functioning properly? My truck is manual but it blows pretty damn hard out of the upper vents. I do notice that it doesn’t flow very well out of the feet well vents. But I attribute some of that to the fact that it goes to the backseats through the center consul floor vents and under the front seat so it’s losing some velocity and volume.

Thanks for the responses but i recall this being an issue since new. Im gonna check for obstructions but i believe its just a weak system. I just wish their was a mod or update from toyota for this

I don’t think it’s impossible for an actuator to be malfunctioning since new. Are you still under warranty? Worth a shot if you are to have the dealer check it out for you.

Not smarter, but maybe I'm more scarred. :D

Back before the digital age, blower motor speed was determined by the blower motor resistor that reduced supply voltage? for each part speed. Resistor failure was first observed as loss of the high blower speed, followed by each remaining resistance element failing until you had no blower motor operation at all.

In this solid state age, the blower motor speed is probably set by the control module (See Item 6 in link below), but throwing-parts roulette with that one will be pricey...$476.26. But...I would try that before experimenting with bigger blower motors.

I posted this on a different thread on here. Use this for your cabin filter cut to size increases the airflow by 25% or more. Mine was always cold enough just the fan didn't blow hard ever. I also replaced my blower and wrapped the AC lines under the hood with smaller diameter type pipe insulation. I'm very happy with the results the cabin filter is what made the difference though. Also have a clip on fan from Amazon for the baby in the rear seat. Gets hot inside car seat. Now 100+ degree weather we do really well inside the truck

I have had my '10 crewmax since new, airflow has always been low, I replaced the fan last year, made no difference, now I have a spare fan, I have also tried replacing the cabin filter or running without a filter, no difference. It seems like if you don't have it on full heat but a little turned back the fan blows harder, AC the only thing that helps is recirculate.

I was thinking about adding one of these but not sure how or where it would fit31rWtken+9L._AC_SY400_.jpg

Blower resistor maybe bad on the high setting. Also turn the recirculating button to on.

That may need an "adapter kit". Depending on its size it may fit it the duct just inside the fan.
I would be surprised if that help much, probably not too much air flow.

Just changed out the cabin filter. It feels like a whole new system, glad I didn't go ugly early!

I was thinking about placing it before the rear ducts, mainly to cool the rear where my kids need it. saw some vids and appears to blow pretty hard. I also found a speed control, it would be a matter of fitment and finding a relay for the 12v

Hi,Guys The air volume or (cfm) seems low compared to other trucks and suv’s mine has been that way from day one (New truck) but does cool well have replace blower, checked dampers even vent under the seat for leakage and replace filter frequently, not sure if it was designed for air flow through evap coil by an conservative Toyota engineer. I have heard of people using the sequoia blower motor and fan blade not sure about the fit.

I’ve been using the K&N rechargeable cabin air filter and I clean it each oil change. I have a 2008 CM and this filter has significantly increased airflow.
