I currently have a 2015 DC X-SPX Package 2WD with 33k miles on it. The dealer keeps sending me mail about upgrading to a 2019 Limited Crewmax 4WD. I would like it upgrade but at what point cost wise is it worth it to upgrade to a 2019? Sure it would be nice to gain the extra cabin space and 4WD. But for a difference of assuming $13-15k with my trade. Is it worth it? or should I just wait to pay off my truck and put the money towards a used Lexus GX460?

What would you guys do? Leave some feedback. Thanks

Or, a Lexus LX570! 33K miles is pretty low. If it's a good running truck I'd be hesitant to trade it in for an unknown quantity.

I have a 17 sr5 with the offroad package. I am going to wait until the redesign comes out. It may be worth waiting for.

I’d wait till the 2020’s come out and upgrade at that point to what might be the last year of this truck.

Do you need a bigger backseat? 4x4? Is your bed too big?

Your trucks's low mileage makes it cherry. Do you need CM or 4x4? Seems pointless unless you need CM or 4x4.....

I actually like the longer bed. Need wise, I don't really need 4wd as we get snow maybe once a year but would be nice to have,as well as the cabin space.
I'm really just kicking the idea if it's worth it to gain 1 foot of cabin space, sunroof and 4wd for $15k?

The other option is to put that $15k towards a used Lexus GX460 or 4Runner. The LX570 might be more than what I want to spend when the time comes.

If there's nothing wrong with your truck, drive it till the wheels fall off and invest the money you would drop on a new truck into your retirement or your kids education. Keeping up with the Jones's aint all its cracked up to be.

The GX is a really nice Lexus. Go test drive one and then get back in your truck to see if you like both or just the truck.

Great point. Not to say I don't have investments, but every little bit helps.

I just might do that. That might help with my decision making

Do you have kids or will be having kids in the next 3 years?

    I wouldn’t want a crewmax if I didn’t have kids

BTW, your current truck looks really awesome. Love the wheels and fender flares. Running boards too!

I do, so part of that is added space for them.
Thats true. Having to start all over again vs having a truck that's paid for.
Thank! I'm still very happy with it. I really planned on keeping it for a very long time.

I bought my dc 3 years before the first kid came. I wish i had the crewmax all the time, but then again, the truck has been paid off for 4 years which has been nice

I'm in the same predicament. Like everyone says, I think I will hold on to the truck and finish paying it off and free some debt. It's give and take, gaining cabin room and losing bed space, which is something I need swell.

I own a 2wd DC with 2 kids. I’ll bet we have had many of the same thoughts.

I don’t know how old your kids are, mine are in car/booster seats still. The crewmax is amazing, but the DC back seat has the more room than many suv rear seats and the tacoma backseat, just the doors are narrow which stinks. For most situations my backseat holds the kids just fine. Hell they just want to watch a movie on road trips

You have a cool dirt bike for offroad so you don’t have to beat up the truck.

    Some stuff to think about.

Let me help you, this is a dumb idea based upon what you said above. Keep your current truck.
