I looked around for a nice headache rack for my 1st Gen Tundra and didn't really like the options I saw & I was having a hard time finding pics showing the racks on rigs....Anyway I decided to fab up my own and I thought you guys might like to see the finished product! Pretty basic, 2" square tube with 1/8" wall.
Believe it or not I put it on 4 days ago and it already saved me a rear window when a load shifted yesterday under a hard stop - haha!

Thanks, me either! We harvest about 6 cords from the National Forest each season and I got into this patch of standing dead that was about as perfect as could be!

Awesome job on the headache rack! Also, where did you get the steelies? I LOVE the look of black steelies and have wanted to put those on my Tundra forever but can't source them anywhere!

These are just the 16x7 oem wheels that came on some tundras and tacos. I just trolled around on facebook and craigslist til I found some. You can use fj cruiser 17” steelies as well, i run those on my 80 series landcruiser.

Custom built a headache rack for my 1st gen double cab. Can do a write up with picture if there is interest. I chopped up an f359 headache rack I scored for $60 to make mine.

I had been google searching tundra headache racks for quite a few months this last summer. I wanted to to install one on my 2004. I figured i was going to end up having to fab up my own...then low and behold a 1st gen tundra headache rack popped up on my local craigslist! The style of the rack was exactly how i had planned to fab up for myself, except this was already done (for the most part). I gladly paid the seller his $150 asking price. This next spring/summer i want to add some sort of mesh or screen to protect the rear window. I’d also like to add some work lights, tie down loops, and maybe incorporate some motorcycle tire chocks.

Mine is a Rack-It brand. It’s called a Sport Rack.

I was skeptical but it looks great. How is the visibility and how is it attached? To the toolbox, at the stake pockets, along the front edge of the bed?
