Trying to swap radios

I wasn't offered that option (or any option for that matter). And admittedly did not ask. Would be happy to do so, but already committed to sending it to another forum member to see if it could be repaired.

 

If he is willing to do that then do it if you want.

 

Update:
I received the non jbl entune with navigation head unit from @19TurdPro today. Took me five minutes to take apart the dash and install it. It works perfectly - once installed updated maps immediately, touch screen works, ALL functions work perfectly. Connected my phone via Bluetooth - tested all functions and steering wheel functions. Literally everything works.

So then the question has been answered that a direct swap is possible and it does indeed work.

I would really like to thank @19TurdPro for his generosity and helping me out. Truly a class act.

 

Sweet! Glad you got it. I actually found it to be adequate, and now that I have a Kenwood head unit in, I kind of miss the stock one, but I'm adjusting slowly.

Yeah, I am still out the $200 I paid for the non working unit so trying to see if the seller is now amenable to a refund after confirming it is not operational.

I have offered to pay return shipping on the unit (as he paid shipping to me). If I am able to recover the purchase price, I will gladly give it to 19TurdPro

 

you don't have a navigation module and or antenna to run the navigation in your truck

 

There not going to do anything about it. Unless he had the seller's vin number and the dealer was cool with it.

You should read the whole thread, but to summarize - bought a unit, turned out to be defective. Another member generously offered one up for the cost of shipping. Hooked that one up and it works. Plug and play swap but original unit was defective and would not load maps, touch screen wouldn’t respond and microphone wasn’t detected.

Everything works......except the original unit I purchased.

Did you check for bent pins on the back of the defective unit by any chance?

 

Yes quickly glanced initially when things weren't working; but will take a closer look at it tonight when I get home and see if there is anything like that

Perfect, now that is sorted out, I will post the tracking number once it ships. Glad @rallypanam stepped up to do what’s right and is at least communicating productively with the rest of the forum. Although I wouldn’t ever purchase anything again from him, it seems he is willing to do what’s right.

@Jim LE 1301 is the person who will fix it. Please ship to him once received or I can ship directly to him and he can confirm receipt before you pay 19TurdPro

Yes, it was me. I would still like to try and fix it. I will post up when I receive it and hopefully post up again if I can get it working.......it's worth a shot. That to everyone for making this happen and all the get well wishes. This is my health update.
Doing a cardiac catheter tomorrow. Might have a block in the lower valve of the heart. They will look and depending on the percentage of the blockage they will decide if a stent has to be put in and if so they will do it at the same time.
