Issues after Lift upgrade/big tires

Hello My Tundra family,

i just wanted to know what issues have you experienced after doing the lift suspension upgrade and 30s, 35s mud tires.

what are the pros and cons.

im getting a lot of negative feedback lately.

Depending what you want, you should be fine. Most issues are with 18+ models with tss sensors.

17 should be good to go. Just depends what you want and how much you're willing to do.

 

I lifted 3 inches, put 33.16" tires on and zero issues on my '18 cm. 35s were too big for me because i think the gain is outweighed by the work i would need to do to get them to fit

 

I originally did 7" lift and 35s on 2019 only issues were my lane departure alert was hit and miss probably because it is so much higher than stock but I never use it except to test it out because I dont need my truck to beep at me reminding me I forgot to use my blinker or when I use 2 lanes taking corners on a back country road.
Only other problem I encountered was with the big lift my 35s looked to small so I had to go bigger now running 38s and everything still works just fine.
But there are a few threads of people discussing there own personal issues if you look around. It seems to be case by case

 

Bought a used 2014 with 26000 miles, now I'm at 71,000, the front end is starting to make a lot of creaking noises I'm sure everything needs to be re-torqued down, and I'm also pre 2017 TSS, I'm sitting on 35s 20 by 9 wheels positive 20

 

2014 with a 6" lift and 35's. I have 42K miles with no issues as of yet. When I need tires, ill put on the 2" adapter kit from ready lift to mske it 8" nd put on 37's

 

3 & 1/2 inch in the front and 1 & 1/2 inch in the rear (OME kit). 295/70/18 mud tires. Love the look. No issues

Con: Uses more gas. Shop people who rotate my tires complain about how heavy tires/wheels are. I hurt my knee once and it was quite painful trying to get in the truck.

 

2018 with Pro Comp 6" lift and 35's. No issues with sensors or lane departure. No creaking. Only "issue/s" (but I knew this going in) is reduced turn radius and reduced fuel economy. If I could do it over again, I would probably go to 4" and 34's.

6 inch , zero issues.

 

7 inch BDS 22x12’s and 35’s. Zero issues so far.

Had to have my PCS re programmed after my lift was installed, OME 612. The PCS, LDA and cruise control went all wanky. Its a roll of the dice on if it will happen on 2018 and up. Mines a 2019.

 

I’m at a 3/1 leveling kit on 33.2. I had to add wheel spacers to fill out the look but it’s well worth it for gas savings and power savings. No re-gearing/body mount chop. I can still get 16.2 AVG if I baby her. Looks great and still tows like a beast!

PS Coilovers with rear shackles + upper control arms.

 

I was into lifts and tires with the Jeeps of my youth.

If I ever lifted a Tundra I'd consider an old man emu along the size you described.

Most quality lifts have adjusted front spring rates to handle large bumpers and winches.

Sounds like you found the perfect compromise. I wonder what the largest tire size stock with full flex while in a hard turn is... Hmm.

 

have 3/2 lift and 34's no issues so far except a slight rub going right

 

I have a 6” Ready lift with 35” Toyo MT’s. I will move to the Ridge grappler or similar when they go bad. I love everything about it. Other then the tires, it drives exactly like a stock truck. I have Put 20k on it in 7 months.

 

Just getting the alignment dialed in is my only issue so far on my 8" ReadyLift. I have the right tie rod just kissing the spring when fully locked right. Boss 4x4 sent me the alignment specs they have had success with so I will have the shop realign when it goes back in for it's re-tourquing. It rides great so far and look really awesome .

 

I've had Zero issues after getting lifted (3" front 1.5" rear). I went exclusively with an installer that has delt with the 2018 TSS stuff. I had excellent alignment numbers, too.

BMC/CMC: No rubbing
Camberg UCAs
King Coilovers (Front & rear).
CB Lift shackles
Differential/carrier drop.
Nitro 4.88s

The only real adjustment was getting my tow hitch shank set up for the additional height increase

I'd also lift it again in a heartbeat vs. being stock

 

None.

 

315/70r17 ridge grapplers w the radflo 3”/1.5” and have zero issues now. Did the spc uca’s and also added shims to the front bumper to poke it out a bit since there was a little bit of rubbing on the front plastic off the bumper. Fuel mileage has gone down a bit but that was expected. Wouldn’t go back to stock even if I could. Love the lifted ride it changes everything about the truck in a positive way.

 

2016 with 6 inch Rough Country lift.

I have a lot of noise in the front when turning, I want to upgrade my steering rack but haven't found anyone to help me decide what route is best.
It pops and creaks every time I back out of the driveway.

 

I doubt that the noise you are hearing is the steering "rack". Did your 6" RC lift require the crossmember cut and diff drop? I think that their older versions did not. If your kit is one of RC's older versions, than your front CV's and drive shafts are at a very steep angle. And, when turning the wheels when backing out, they are going to be very noisy. Only way to resolve that is to update your kit with a newer version that requires the crossmember cut and diff drop. But, if you really think it is the steering linkage that is making the noise, Coachbuilder makes a kit that helps a little bit, with that:

I have asked members if anybody has this kit installed, and I know a couple that do, but have NOT gotten any feedback on how much it helps.

 

I just did the CB poly bushing upgrade for the steering rack this past weekend and all I can say is that it gave it a "Sportier" feel to the steering. I'm interested in the benefits of upgraded tie rod kit from CB as well.

 

Got 6" lift with 35s, the only issue I had was parking. I couldn't see anything when forward parking, got a Front Anytime Camera .....Problem Solved
