Is a 2800 psi safe to use on my Tundra for the paint. Today I got a Craftsman 2800 psi 2.3 GPM. If so what color tip should I use.
Also I got a foam cannon looking forward to using it my next day off. 8EB51895-1E3D-419F-A71A-19E2CF1ABDEF.jpg

I been using a Ryobi 3000 PSI 2.3 GPM in the 40° setting for 1 year without any problems just make sure to take a good distance, I also added a pressure flow control to the wand to reduce the PSI if needed, I’m using a foam cannon and love it how the truck looks after a deep cleaning.

40 degree white tip nozzle. If you can put your hand 15 inches away and it doesn't hurt then its safe for your paint.

I have been using a pressure washer on my trucks for many years and never had an issue. During rain season when I go on construction sites and know if will get dirty again the next day anyway, I just use the pressure washer to spray off the heavy mud so it doesn't cake on too thick; I don't even do a full wash.

Got for it. It's super helpful, but use common sense where you pressure wash. Like don't get inches away from your door seals

UMMM Take this advice. I was 12/13 when my parents had me power wash the deck. Not sure what PSI it was but it was a gas Honda and well I though it would be a great idea to power wash my shoes. Well you can imagine how close that tip was to my shoe when I happened to clip the outside of my ankle. Instantly sliced open a nice flap of skin. 6 hours in the ER and 9 stitches later I was all good. Shit still terrifies me haha

With a 40 degree nozzle no problem as long as its 1000 to 1200 PSI which is great for washing cars and very safe for the paint. Above that then yes it can be dangerous. I wouldn't do it with a 0 degree or 15 degree nozzle, pumping 1800 PSI lol.

I commented because my brother was helping a friend clean a deck. The friend was wearing flip flops and decided to “check” the pressure on his exposed foot.

The “testing method” resulted in a clean (but bloody) incision across all of his toes, which were nearly de-gloved.

Many stitches, much pain. I always think about that when I fire up the PW.

Anyone ever try the matching ryobi foam cannon that Home Depot sells along side the power washers in the aisle. It has mixed reviews online.

I have that one too, is nice but I do not recommend it for our trucks, the soap reservoir is extremely small and when I used it I have to fill it up 2-3 times

That could not have been more of a helpful answer.

Having to stop a few times kind of defeats the purpose.

I use a similar one cannon on a 2800 psi pump. Works great... and the foam juice is this stuff: https://www.chemicalguys.com/honeydew-snow-foam/honeydew-snow-foam.html

Unfortunately we live in a world where common sense do not exist any more. And I admit I have done a few stupid things in my life. However, I do use the pressure washer to spray off my feet and lower legs when there is splattered debris all over me. The 'secret' is just to start far away and move it closer until it does the job without hurting you. Don't start up close and move it away if it hurts - that might be too late.
The same principle for washing the truck, start far away and move a little closer to get the stubborn bugs or mud cakes off. Keep in mind the truck cannot feel it, so you have to 'feel' with your common sense.
I have been washing my trucks with pressure washers for years and never had any issues.

I read this thread and thought, what the heck, and decided to order the above foam rig to give it a try. About a month ago I bought a gallon of MR Pink super suds shampoo and though I would see how the two would work together.
Tonight I washed the truck. I set up the container with hot water first and soap at a 1/4 ratio.
I was thinking, based upon some of the posts, that I might try to use up only a bottle of the mixture for the entire truck.
Dang! This thing is the BOMB. I swear I covered the entire truck, stem to stern, wheels wheel wells 3x at least three times. I washed it once, refoamed and went over it by hand and then foamed it again for a repeat.
I was looking at the foam supply bottle and the amount of mixture I had to us was ridiculously small! I could have washed a fleet of tundras.
Here is a shot of the first layer and the remaining mixture after I gave up in the thought of using it all. I just pulled and cleaned the nozzle and will capped the reservoir. Will see what it looks like next time.

Just to make sure about my post. I didn’t mention the pressure washer. I have a small electric 1700 psi pressure washer this connects with. It won’t work off a hose alone. The foamer runs about 24$ but you need a Pressure Washer at 1000 psi to use it.

Adams has the best foaming car wash I’ve run across so far.
It’s called a Mega Foam and it’s on sale right now.

The foam is as thick as shaving cream when it comes out and it sticks on the vertical surfaces nicely.
