Thanks for the info! Just going to be my wife and I, but we like to do lots of fun stuff and something different, which is why we are going in the first place. We missed CMA Fest in Nashville this year, so planed the trip over Labor Day. Turns out Nashville isn't doing anything for the holiday and no shows or anything going on. So the idea came up to go up to the Smokey Mountains and check it out.

If you have anytime for Nashville hit Broadway, especially if you like country music. I grew up in SC, thought you had to go to Myrtle or Atlanta for a good time, man I was wrong! Nashville...:rockband:

Slight correction: Mt. Mitchell is the highest peak in NC, the Appalachians, and mainland eastern North America.

Well just got back from TN. Gatlinburg was pretty cool but damn it was busy. I think more people there than when we were in Vegas the previous weekend, ha. Was fun but would have been better had it not been Labor Day weekend probably. The traffic was horrendous. Thankfully we went into the mountains early that morning because coming back the line was crazy going in.

Overall we had a good time. Wish we would have spent more time hiking though.

Wish I had seen this a little sooner. There are a lot of back roads around the Gatlinburg area that the locals tipped me off to over the years. You can make it through the towns much fast if you get off of the beaten paths.
