I have a 3/2 Ready Lift on my 2017. I just ordered some 295/70/18 Cooper Discoverer AT3’s to put on my stock TRD off-road wheels. I have some Spidertrax 1.25” spacers which I know will definitely provide the clearance I need. But, I wanted to bring the truck to get the tires mounted and an alignment without the spacers because I hear that some shops are refusing work with spacers. It looks like the tire would be close to the upper control arm, but it’s hard to tell. Anyone have any experience?

I could barely squeeze my pinky between mine when I put that size on my stock TRD pro wheels, only rubbed the forward mud flap

Thanks. Did you have a lift installed? It seems like the 3” spacers actually put the control arm in a worse position in relation to the tire.

Suspension geometry with 3" inch lift whether spacers or new coilovers would be better with aftermarket UCA's.

@CatskillMtnCustoms, with your 1 1/4" spacers you should be fine. I had that set up with no issues other than front passenger mud flap . As far as your lift, not sure. I have 6112's up front and 1" tapered block in rear.

I have a stock pro with Yokohama geolandar at in that size. It's really close, but doesn't hit. Tiny mud flap up front was the only rub issue

Thanks. I know it will definitely be fine with the spacers, but I was trying to avoid having the spacers on when bringing the truck to have the tires installed.

Yes. As the suspension pivots down it is pulling the tire towards the center of the truck. When it flattens out it is pushing the tire outwards.

Yeah, and I think 3” spacers are really pushing it with stock components. I got mine for $30 from a coworker, and installed them a week ago. I don’t like how maxed out everything seems just sitting on the ground. I’m considering switching to Bilstein 5100’s, obviously a better product and just a little less lift.

you only need 1-2 inches for those tires to look good.

I am running 295/70r18 Toyo AT 2 with a 2" leveling kit on my 2017. Had to do a little bending of the metal plate up front, but minimal. ZERO rubbing anytime.

Waiting for 285/70/18 from Falken so I don’t have to worry about this. 295 look great but too much hassle for me.

Thanks for everyone’s responses. I ended up taking out the 3” spacers and installing Bilstein 5100’s (2.5”). I think the ready lift spacers are too much without swapping UCA’s. The 5100’s are just a better choice. The UCA’s are now in a much better position and I’ll have plenty of tire clearance there. My 295/70/18 Cooper Discoverer AT3’s get installed tomorrow. I also picked up a set of spidertrax spacers to help the stance just a bit.

what was the verdict...were the spacers just to improve the stance and look...or were they required to fit the tire in (no UCA rub)?

The tires ended up fitting without the wheel spacers, which I like. I prefer the tires to sit flush with the fenders. There’s about 5/8” of space between tire and UCA. I think that if I had kept the 3” lift the tires would have rubbed because it raised the UCA angle to right where the tire bulge is.

Not a great picture, but shows the fitment.

Good looking truck. I’m going for that same look, flush fit. I’m thinking about Toyo AT2s on stock TRD wheels with a 2” level kit.

Nice, I don’t think you’ll have any fit/rub issues with a 2”. Mine only needed a little trim on the skid plate for full-lock, no other rubbing.

Do you think the 295's would have fit with only a 2" lift up front? Do you have any lift in the rear?

I think so. The 5100’s I have are only around 2.25” so not a big difference. I have 2” ready-lift blocks in the rear. If you haven’t bought a kit already, I highly recommend getting 5100’s for the front. A much better product for the money, especially if you get them on sale somewhere.

I bought the 6112 and 5160 a year or so ago. Unfortunately, I've only installed the 5160 so far, waiting on the front until I need new tires

Installed some Toyo AT2 295/70/18 on stock rims with only a 2" level kit on my 2018. It fit no problem at all. Plenty of room between tire and UCA.IMG_20200130_172131.jpg IMG_20200130_184150.jpg

Nice truck. It’s funny, I was concerned because I read so many posts on here about guys struggling to fit 295’s, but you really don’t need much to run them without issue.

Yep, so many conflicting threads. I feel like the official wheel and tire size thread should be updated.
