Regular Cab Short Bed Tundra

I was thinking it would take another 30 years before values head north.

 

That’s what Rockstars look like without a finish. Powdercoat place is taking their time, but they did do my windshield wipers for free. They look way better.

 

Fresh out the powder shop. Turned out ok. There’s a few imperfections from the age of the wheels but their barely noticeable (unless your me) lol.

Waiting on ceramic to show up then I can coat them and get em installed.

 

Nice looking RCSB everyone! Heres mine, 2011 base model(bench seat), 5.7l V8. Flowmaster 10 exhaust and 275/60/20 BFgoodrich ATs on Fuel 20x10 rims

 

my RCSB came from Virginia. I drove up there and got it. A Ford dealer in Rocky Mount had it. Been about two years ago.

 

I bet it was somewhere else before it came to VA, what does the carfax say

 

It was a two owner truck and both owners lived in VA. The first owner may have bought it out of state, I don't remember those details and I no longer own the truck and I gave the carfax report to the buyer that I sold it to. But the truck lived in some small town around Blacksburg maybe. I just don't remember now at this point.

 

I sold cars for Toyota back then and i remember we could not order one for the locals, so we had to send them out of state. One can buy it in another state and register it in VA

 

That is probably what happened then.

 

Turned out great. Ceramic made it hard for wheel weights to stick. My recommendation is to ceramic after the wheels have been balanced.

Now to get rid of the chrome

 

Anyone looking to get rid of their reg cab short bed? I have a 2011 4x4 tacoma with 63k miles auto that I would trade for it and add cash if necessary. Has an arb bumper and 3rd gen off-road rims as well. The truck is sick and has always lived in Florida just need some more towing power. Or just buy outright. Must be 4x4 as well.

I’ve had my 2013 RCSB, 5.7, 4x4 for just a few weeks a nd have had four people ask what it was. They all thought it was a tundra but didn’t think they existed! Haha. I can’t wait to get a throatier exhaust.

 

Would recommend a bam 8” exhaust.

I've had Long Dog for a little over a year. Love the space, power, and off roading capabilities. 2004 SR5 4x4 RCLB.

 

Don't see those often without a ladder rack on it and beat down to shits. Most are used for work sadly, what you got going on in the back of the camper shell, i'm about to build a sleeping platform for mine.

 

At the moment, just a full size bed and storage boxes. I'll be starting on an elevated bed setup w/drawers and a dresser on the cab side soon.
These things are faster, lighter, and better offroad than any other 1st gen body combo imho.
I snagged this thing with 90k and felt obligated to save it from a contractor. I've seen too many destroyed in the way you're talkin.

Turning my RCSB into an overlanding roadtripping vehicle, man there's so much room back there...picked up a brand new bedrug cover for it, brand spanking new for $50. Dude had no idea what he was selling and said he just wanted to get it out of his garage that his brother left behind. This is $430 on Amazon, it dramatically transform the inside of my bed. Looks a lot newer now.

Mocking up the elevated sleeping platform, it's 30"x72" and i have the same size high density foam mattress for it. On the floor is 26" of sleeping space for my gf if there's ever a chance in hell that she'll come along. Most of the time it's for my buddy when we go crabbing/fishing early in the morning.





Building a drawer to make use of the space



On the left side of the bed i'll build a little shelf to store more junk, and serves as a table for eating as well when it's raining out.

 

Regular cab short beds are rare. The 2x4 is way more rare. Was never made in the northern states that get snow. I’d like to know how many were made each year.

I sold my RCSB about 6 months ago for 14,500 with only 62k miles which was book and mine had the bucket seat/center console option. He's wishful dreaming if thinks he will get 25k for it. I just ran NADA book on it and it's 13,900 with the low miles. I wish him luck though.

 

Way over priced, and not as rare as the 2WD RCSB.
