Is it worth paying for aluminum to save the weight but not hold up as well as steel?

    Also I was looking at:

RCI steel which costs $295 and comes in a 10 gauge steel (2.58mm). 45lbs

    Victory 4x4 which costs $329 and comes in a 3/16in steel (4.76mm). 40lbs

What other options are there and what are your thoughts?

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
Bud Built, PnP. I'd recommend the RCI steel. I know a bunch of guys that have 'em and don't have any issues. Aluminum would be a good option in the rust belt IMO.

RCI. But be aware, the included oil door bolts rusts easily. Get some bolts from Lowe’s/HD

The victory skids are thicker and heavier than the RCI skids. I have the RCI skids. I have no problems with them. RCI may be having a labor day sell.

I've seen a Tundra with plastic (resin) engine skid plate. Not sure who sells them but for those who don't do major off-road , it's not a bad idea!
I was told they are easy to remove. We have other SUVs with plastic skid plate. Tundra gas tank has a plastic skid plate!
