Price on ordering a truck.

I’ve never ordered a vehicle before. Do you who have, find that dealers deal much on the price? I would think you could get good pricing because the dealership does not have to have their money tied up for any real length of time. I’m probably wrong. (Looking at a 2020 tundra.)

 

Just shop around on the internet so you know prices and be firm on what you want to spend. They will deal to make the sale and if they know you are shopping around they will try to get you the best price before you leave. Now is a good time because the 2020 models are coming out and they want to move the 2019's. Not sure if you want a 19 or 20. Good luck with your search.

I’ve done it twice. Some dealers will, others won’t. Your best bet is a high volume dealer.

Also the ordering process isn’t quite as simple as saying here’s what I want (especially if you want it quickly)

 

Not going to be the best deal

 

My experience (and advice from a best friend who is a General Sales Manager at a high volume Toyota dealer); when you order a vehicle, the dealership knows you want it and are less likely to deal as its a special order. The best bet would be to search the web and find a dealership who has the model, color, trim, options that you want and tell your dealership that's the vehicle you want and know what price you are willing to pay. Your dealership will either tell you to visit that dealership and purchase the vehicle (may or may not be possible depending on distance) or your dealership may arrange a trade with the other company to purchase the vehicle and sell to you. My Tundra was 280 miles away and the dealership traded vehicles, transported the Tundra to my dealership and I bought from my local dealership.

That's how I got my 2018. There were only two in the state that were configured to my specs, one 600 miles away and one about 150 miles away. I chose the closer one (better color and easier to get). Dealer negotiated a trade with the other dealer and I got my Tundra a day or so later. Eezee peezee.
