Here’s one I painted last night, has some good reflection. And it’s a 95 Tacoma

 

100%. So much easier (and more fun)!

Harv, a good trick going forward is to use Beadmaker as a drying aid. When you wash your truck, spray a little bit on it, then dry. It’ll keep the Beadmaker fresh and it’s easier than reapplying dry. You really only need to do the dry application the first time. Of course, I need to follow my own advice, but I tend towards overkill on my vehicles.

 

Beadmaker= drying aid
DI Rinse = spot free drying
I wonder if I could mix them for a spot free rinse infused with Beadmaker?

This was my 1st attempt at trying to revive/save some paint. I picked up this base model Matrix late last spring for a good price, $1500 ran great, ac cold, no leaks shifted great, in my mind a perfect beater car with the intention of being my daughters 1st car the following year. I was obviously more concerned with the function of the car vs the looks of it but I ALMOST didnt buy it because how bad the paint was, roof and hood were extremely bad as shown


So the guy lowballed himself as his wife wanted it gone, was listed at 2100 he said 1500 takes it and after driving it, I took it.

Roof with a small, test section ( I had 0 idea on how to do this correctly at this point )


I got my HF buffer and pads, some megs 85 and 205 and some ultimate wax and figured I would go for it.
I learned that wheel polish on a buffer saves headlights, and the initial results are below.

The roof, I think I was using too much product and on dirty/clogged pads so I had some hazing/blotchiness but still a HUGE improvement.


And here is a recent pic, the car turned out to be great and I actually love this old matrix. 190+k on it, no leaks, no drama, just reliable everyday car and my daughter will officially get the keys in2 weeks as long as she passes the official Idaho driving test.



So in closing. Dont be afraid to try, especially on an old cheap car you could very well find a bit of a diamond in the rough.

I still dont know what I am doing really, but this board has some kickass pros and extreme hobbyist that always seem willing to help/answer dumb questions from clueless folks like me.

Thanks, I never really liked red trucks but the Barcelona Red is an exception. I used Bead Maker after reading about it here and I’m stoked on the results.

 

I'm the same way, weird cuz I never was a fan of blue trucks either lol, then I found my truck, price was too good to pass just cuz of color, its grown on me and I love it now. Would love to see the voodoo blue in person too

 

I was getting Barcelona Red when I went to the dealership. Wife talked me into the black one. Still can’t believe Toyota quit making Radiant Red.
