I have been buying my tires at Discount Tire for a lot of years. I read horror stories about people having balancing problems and it is sometimes the fault of the installer. I would think Discount Tire does a decent job (unless you get a village idiot installing them), but what about Sam's and Costco? Is it safe to buy from and have AT tires installed by them? Are they good at balancing big AT tires? I guess I could price the tires at Sams and Costco and have Discount Tire match the price.

I have not used Discount but have used Sam's and Costco. Costco is very professional and top notch. They have a very clean shop and the workers are very friendly and seem to know what they are doing. Costco seems like o really push Bridgestone tires. They always have deals on them and right now $130 off per set with free install. There is nobody that can touch Costco if you like Bridgestone. Michelin's is there other brand but they are in line with the market and do not really offer any discounts. Seems Costco has a thing with Bridgestone.

Funny you mention this as I just bought 2 sets of Bridgestone tires today and had them installed in our 17 4Runner and 13 Accord. In and out in 40 minutes with Nitrogen and lifetime rotation and balancing and they are done right with the correct PSI.

Sam's I have had about the same experience and they do a really quality job also. I would actually consider them a little better than Firestone, NTB, Sears, etc.... Costco still a little better but no problem with Sam's.

Michelin is my #1 choice but huge savings going with Bridgestone through Costco.

Thanks. I used to buy tires at Sams years ago before Discount Tire. I am considering Birdgestones--the AT Revo 3. Nobody seems to buy those and thus not many reviews. Plus, they are expensive.

Used Costco for years replacing LTX's on an F250 (load Size E). Zero issues. I believe Costco will only replace the factory-size tires though. No up or down sizing allowed.

Costco does a fine job, its just a pain in the ass. Always a line. I will be going back to discount tire again for next set. Always faster service in my experience, i dont care if it is more money

Costco is good for stock size tire specific to your truck. Tried buying oversized tires at serval local to me Costco's and they wouldn't sell them. Been using America's Tire (Discount).

I think depend of shop, I use discount tires for a long time but the last time I change my tacoma tires, they screw up. three tires are the right size bit one is smaller, lucky I just drove across the street to buy coffee, went straight back. Took an other hour for them to change that one tire, after they change it, I saw my tire pressure light is on, so I stop by the gas station to check. Found out I only have 20 psi on that one tire. I never went back

There are village idiots at all places. About two years ago, I went with my girlfriend to Discount Tires to have new tires put on her Limited Ford Expedition. The village idiots placed the floor jack on the automatic running board hinge and bent it when they lifted the vehicle so that it was ruined and the automatic running board would not even work. The damage was on the passenger side so we did not even notice it until we got home (the running board only comes out when the passenger door is opened and she drove home by herself because I was in my truck). Discount Tire tried to get out of it (manager lied and said they did not do it, they were not going to pay for it, etc.), but no dice because of me. They paid her $3,000 for that screw up. I do not hold the mistake against them (am not happy with the one manager) because people make mistakes. I can tell some stories about the good things Discount Tire has done for me too, so I will be back.

I used to get tires for my Volvo from Costco. Service was always top notch and the manager always gave me a discount. I use Discount Tire today and am pleased with them. Costco is just further away from my house so Discount is easier for rotation etc.

My brother and I have had really good luck in dealing with the Costco tire department. As alluded to here, they are pros. I got home and double checked their work after my instillation of Michelins.
Tire pressure, lug nut torque, spare tire reinstalled and no dings or scratches on my alloy wheels ~ everything checked out perfectly.
The truck rolled down the road with zero issues just like it had before the new tires were installed.
However, I bought stock size/specification tires. Costco will not work with you on the size/specification of tires that you might want to buy and their selection can be quite limited ~ they mostly go by the book on this.
Their pricing is quite competitive if you shop their sale flyers.

if you talk to the shop manager, some costco tires shops will install your tire on your rim even if you didn't buy them there. Mount, balance and nitrogen. It comes with no warranty though.
They installed my Toyo A/T II on Method rim for my spare for $15

How do you like the Toyo AT II tires and how long have you had them? I am looking at those for my truck. Thanks

I don’t think it will be more money. Discount will match pretty much anyone including online retailers. I have issues with Discount due to the fact many installers are young kids but they always fix their mistakes.
    I’ll stick with discount.

It is hard to beat Discount Tire on price locally, even with Costco and Sams Club. I used to price around (and I still check prices online) but Discount Tire usually has good prices IMO. Plus, they are everywhere, and I do mean everywhere, where I live and even in other states that I usually visit. If something happens, I figure I have a place to get them fixed within just a few miles. Costco is hard to find in some places. Sams is easier to find than Costco. Getting caught out with a problem is also something I consider.

He summed up my experience, I can't talk about other tire center's as i've always been to Costco, I can say that with 15 years of experience in indeal with costco I never had to complain about anything else but just wait time. They're extremely busy during weekends that prolongs wait time.

The last time I used Sams Club was on a previous vehicle and they managed to break every single TPMS sensor on the vehicle. And they refused to replace them by claiming they were already damaged. I've now found a local reliable tire shop and I bring all my business to them. I've even had Sams Club try telling me that the manufacturers warranty on the tire would be void if I bought the tires from them but then had my preferred shop install them. I buy a lot of stuff from Sams, but tires are no longer one of those items.

I have been using Costco for the last couple years because I bought a set of snow tires there and they only charge $40 to do a seasonal changeover if you bought one of the sets of tires there.

I have been happy with them up until the last time I went there in the spring to get the summer tires on. They broke one of my TPMS sensors and owned up to it, but didn't have any in stock so they said to come back anytime and they would install a new one. I called before going in for the replacement sensor and asked if they would replace it with an OEM sensor or an aftermarket one. The manager said they could only use an aftermarket one because they only have that one kind because they have a deal with that manufacturer. I got the new aftermarket sensor, but I felt like that was a shitty thing for them to do because they broke my OEM sensor and would only replace with aftermarket.

After that experience, I'm not sure I'll go back to Costco for tires.

With an understanding that service providers are no better than the assigned technician which provides and represents their services... This being said, I gave up on Costco several years ago due to very frustrating experiences relating to multiple tries at balancing tires on my 07 Tundra then and I haven't looked back since. Discount Tire on the other hand has been consistent with providing "first time getting it right" services couple with exceptional followup.
My vote is for Discount Tire!

I order my tires from tire rack and shipped to my friend shop to have him install, I don’t trust any of them shop anymore, he provides me free rotation and fix flat tires.

Man, I’m really sorry about that situation. We make mistakes. We’re human.

I know if you were at my store I’d have got you back on the road in way less than an hour and reimbursed you for your time.
