Last month I got $28,500 for my 2014 SR5 Crewmax 4x4 53,000 miles. I hit a deer with it in June - fixed and traded.

good thread here as I am exploring trading in my truck. I have told the dealers that my truck will be all stock when I trade it in after they have thrown their numbers out there. No one has seemed to care I am keeping the trd grille, headlights, wheels, color match door handles and bushwacker rivet flares, running boards, bak flip cover, and fab fours bumper. I can easily get 2-2500 by parting it out on C list.

Any how, dealers seem to be hitting me around 23,800 for my 2015 cm sr5 4x4 with 93k miles. Which is the KBB instant cash offer. KBB trade is 25-26.5k

My issue is I havent found anything worth the money to me that these dealers want for a tundra ( any gen) . I want to find a 1st or 2ng gen in the 8-14k range but cant seem to find anything thats been cared for with actual records and under 180k miles. Everything is over 15-17k with high miles. For that price point, Id just keep what I have and make it a priority to pay it off within 12 months.

Interesting. Inventory low could be a sign of numerous different indicators.

Most Dealers in Green Bay, WI have posted something similar online and even on the road.
They see people as a cheaper place to buy a used car from than the auction; uninformed and easy pickens.

November- December 2016 I was shopping hard.
    Carmax offered $10K for my 2007 DC 2WD SR5 84,000 miles.
Local Toyota dealers offered $11.7 to $12.6K

    Put on Craigslist asking $18,500.
    Sold within 3 days.
    Got $16,400.

    This was in December 2016.

Recently Villa Ford in Orange. CA offered $33K for trade in. Against a 2018 Raptuurrr.

Toyota of Orange recently offered $41k. Was getting serviced in May
Truck is a Platinum Pro. 4x4. Toyo R/T’s
Method NV’s TRD Dual exhaust, tonneau, long gun storage, Line X etc. TRD Pro suspension.

10,678 miles as of 40 minutes ago...

    Privately I realistically expect 41 - 44k

    You should check out http://www.givemethevin.com

I sold my wife's expedition to them way above CarMax and every dealer. They picked it up and gave me a check the day after I submitted it online.

    Very legit.

My buddy traded in his 18’ 1794 with 30k miles. First offer was $40,500. Settled in $42,200 but only discounted the new car $800 so trade value was most likely true to their original number and then over allowed with the profits from the new auto.

I just sent them all my info based on this post and it was a JOKE! $18-20k. 5-7k less than dealers are quoting me site unseen. Can’t wait for all the spam calls and emails now.

You won't get spammed, they're a legit business. Probably one of the biggest wholesalers in the country. They may call to see if they can do better, but that's it. The quote you got is computer generated.

Damn. That seems like a good offer on the trade. I get that it’s the sum of the parts. You might get a killer deal on trade in but you most likely won’t see much of a discount on the new new vehicle unless the dealer has a reason too, which could be a long list of reasons.

I think I’m gonna hold out until the end of the year. I think car sales are slowing and rates will drop and manufactures are going to start discounting new vehicles even more to get things moving.

Got it. Thanks for the heads up. I’d put it back to stock and sell it to them but they’d have to come up quite a bit.

It all evens out. He was a “trade buyer “ so they knew his hot button was payoff. So they made that happen and made it up in the Lexus he bought. The dealer always wins. He was happy and I’m sure they made enough to make the deal happen so it all worked out.

I think at the end of the day, as long as you, the buyer, walk away happy that’s all that matters.

their real offer was $23k... $2500 under the trade in offer I've gotten twice. They are a wholesale company so no big deal, they need to make money, just wont be off of me at this point in time. I politely declined.

I cant stomach selling/trading in vehicles and then seeing them on a lot for $3-4k more knowing that they did nothing but detail it and getting close to their asking price by simply just having it on their lot.

That's a fair point, and I agree. The dealer wants your business on the other end, so they have more incentive to offer more -- especially since a used Tundra on the lot isn't much of a risk. Different market for a 1 year old loaded Expedition EL. I couldn't believe the wholesaler beat CarMax and other dealers by about $8K. And I had a check in hand within 24 hours.

That’s amazing! Nice work! My wife almost got an EL a few years ago. Very nice SUV. We just got her a new VW Atlas. Can’t beat that warranty and it’s extremely nice.

Dealer offered me 19k for my 15 DC, KBB trade-in ranged from 21 to 23k . If the purpose is to research whether you want to trade or not, I ended up selling mine over KBB private party value in less than 3 hours after I posted it online. I've sold a few vehicles online before, never this fast and never with so many inquiries. It was nuts!

I’m going to hang onto mine for a while. I was looking to sell mine and buy a second gen to knock out my Loan but can’t justify buying another one with extremely high miles for the prices they go for. 12-15k and I haven’t seen one with under 150k miles.
