I have a 2019 limited in Cement and I love the color but I HATE the chrome, especially the grille has anyone had theirs painted (pics). I would even consider swapping the grille but I’m not sure if the TSS sensors are interchangeable?

Sport and Pro grill both work with the TSS. Although the Pro option will cost more due to needing more parts to move the sensor to a different location.

Depends on which pro grille. The 17' pro grille is cheaper than the sport and Platinum grills and the relocation mount is cheap too. 19' TRD pro grille is more expensive yes

Yeah, looking at two Tundras at the local dealer and going crazy trying to decide which one. One in cavalry blue and one in quicksand. Both are SR5s with the giant chrome shell. Doesn't look bad in cavalry blue, but the quicksand is awful looking.

Love the Quicksand color, but it HAS to be either blacked out or color matched. The chrome just looks awful with it.

Just from searching this forum, it seems the best option is to buy a brand new Toyota grill shell at big bucks. I've looked at aftermarket color-matching paint to spray it myself, but haven't seen any examples of a noob like me attempting it. Would just do a semi-gloss black, but that might be too much black, but can't find an example of anyone doing the whole grill shell in black with quicksand.

Found a pic online of someone who painted the whole grille and hood bulge black...

Why not ask the dealer to replace the grille with a color match? They can add the extra cost into the financing I'm sure.

I thought so too. Color matched is the only way to go on the quicksand IMO.

Is that cement? Doesn’t look bad. I think the all black bumper ties it together pretty well.

I recently had my hood bulge and bumper caps wrapped in 3M gloss black vinyl to match the truck and they came out great. For the grill and surround I replaced the stock chrome grill with the honeycomb black grill from the TRD Sport that had the gloss black painted surround.

Really pleased with how it all came together, makes it into a whole different truck.

Not bad. I was planning on doing some duplicolor on my hood bulge, surround, and bumper ends, but I might end up doing a spray liner for the bumper parts if it’s not too expensive.
Looks awesome. How much did it cost you to get them wrapped?

I just ordered this grille and it doesn't include the Toyota badge. Can someone help with a part # or best place to order the badge/emblem ? Thanks

At the time that I'd had it wrapped he did the bumper caps, hood bulge and grill surround for $230 flat and that included at-home driveway service.

Afterwards I was looking for a PRO grill insert and stumbled across an insane deal on the black TRD Sport grill with factory painted surround and went with that.

I tried a failed attempt at plasti-dipping everything, but it came out awful. The door badges came out great in flat black plasti-dipped but the rest of the chrome was horrible (lack of skill on my end, I'm sure). I peeled it all off within an hour of doing it and made an appointment with the vinyl guy.

The vinyl so far has held up great and the gloss black matches the paint perfectly.

Color match part is your best option.
I don't really mind the look of the chrome on the cement. I shopped around for an autobody shop to paint my chrome hood bulge and was told it is difficult to paint wouldn't hold up well over time. Not mine but more pics are never a bad thing!

The full black front on the Quicksand with the 2014-17 grille looks pretty bad. Glad I didn't make that mistake.

I dig the black surround, bulge, and front bumper. The bed liner material should hold up a lot better over time. Looks good.

That 2018+ grille looks pretty solid with just the hood bulge done as well! The chrome mirror caps are the worst, imo, on the limited models. Nice mod with the color match.

Question - has anyone plasti dipped the chrome on the front bump ends? Does the matte finish match the center bumper or would it be better to do the entire front bumper with Plasti dip?

Thanks for posting this...have you used the 3m vinyl on the front of a vehicle before and how has it held up over time? What about being parked outside all the time?

Nope, this was my first ever foray into having vinyl put on a vehicle. So far it's held up great, I can detect the slightest difference in the color of the vinyl black vs the painted black under the right lighting but no one else notices and lots of guys here have the same issue with matched painted parts.

As for parking outside, I squeeze that thing into the garage and drive another car to work most days so the truck doesn't really get too much sun exposure.

Honestly if I had the money or the talent I'd paint everything to match but after my plastidip experiment failed I got frustrated and called the vinyl dude.

Now if I could just do the 18+ headlight swap and install some Katskind I'd be all set.

I painted my mirror caps and hood bulge myself. Automotive primer, paint and 2k clear, all in a can. Color match is spit on. No issues with paint so far. Just sanded it down a bit before priming.

I was going to paint the surround but found a great deal on a cement pro grill. I ran it for a week and have just put the honeycomb insert back in because of the safety sense stuff. Didnt really want to do the relocation bracket.

Next is getting the chrome bumper caps covered or painted. Real chrome, not plastic chrome, is a bigger deal. Paint doesn't like to stick apparently but I will figure it out.

    Mitch

Has anyone purchased any of the painted Chinese grilles or hood bulges from eBay? They seem to be pretty cheap. Cheaper than local paint shops are willing to paint the grille and bulge from what I've found.
