I'm really hoping Brute Force does a Black Friday sale again this year. I need that front bumper. Plus someone here posted rear bumpers from them too a while back. I wish they were on Billy's website and I wish he was a vendor here.

I definitely don't need that bumper but I sure do WANT one... I just put my coilovers on though. I'd feel pretty stupid for taking them off after only 2-3k miles to switch to 700lb coils. I suspect I would "have" to get a winch but I have no idea how to safely operate one and don't know anyone around here that would show me. I need to find one of those recovery classes.

Yeah o installed coils last December. But I'd rock the 650s and see how it felt with just the bumper and sliders. I'd go to 700 once I got skids and a winch

Picked up some new tires last night. 5 295/70/17 Duratrac for $300. Definitely a score since they are practically brand new (mid 2017 mfg date). Bummed to be ditching the tall skinnies but these trucks look so good with a wider tire. Also finally have a full size spare.

I was cleaning out some old files and came across the 2000 Toyota Tundra brochure I picked up when I bought mine 19 years ago. I thought I'd ask if one of the 2000 Tundra owners here wants it. It's 42 pages and the size/weight of a magazine. Maybe 4 or 5 ounces, I don't have a scale to weigh it. I'd be happy to mail it to the first person that PM's me. I would just need a postage paid self addressed envelope mailed to me and I'll mail the brochure back. The brochure is 10" x 12" so the envelope needs to be at least that size. Slightly larger would be better.

Ok so I've learned and been told many times now to use OEM LBJ... Got it. Based off a dent in a very particular spot on the door I can tell the LBJ driver's side had broken before. In a little over a year the replacement they used broke. Then my replacement broke (how I learned OEM only). Truck has 144,000 miles, 2 driven like 2 miles a day everyday. This will be the driver's side 4th ball joint. The picture is everypart number and cost if I repair both control arms and both ball joints with all OEM parts. I don't have a 2 ton press to replace bushings in LCA so if I'm doing the work I'm gonna have to swap out the entire LCA. Any experienced first gen opinions, or options, or places to save cash. If I assume the LCA has the bushings already attached then -120.00 my total is still 680. Or I can assume that none of those things are causing the LBJ to break over and over and over again and just replace the LBJ and hope it doesn't fail again. Any responses are welcome.IMG_20190810_231005094.jpg

    Hi @JessiJane06Tundra
Is your truck lifted? Can you upload pictures of it and of your suspension?

06 has a bigger and stronger ball joint than prior years, you shouldn't be having such frequent failures. How are they failing? Are we talking snapping and thr truck hits the ground, or just going bad by the boot ripping?

@Darkness yes we're talking the ball is pulling strait out of the ball joint housing and the metal stem is hitting the ground. The LCA hasn't hit the ground itself but only because the stem is hitting the floor. I would guess (strictly a guess) a 3" lift. All the suspension is stock. No specialty coils, struts, or control arms. I know it's not great for ball joints but I figured I'm barely driving this thing, it's one mile to work and back and I bought it for 6500 with 130,000 miles. I'll add pictures tomorrow, they're in my Google drive and I can't find them

Screenshot_20190811-002252.jpg Screenshot_20190811-002252.jpg It looks prerunner to me but I literally no nothing about lifts. I learned all I know from my dad and he was old school, lifts didn't exist to him. I can understand the concept of it all, but have no idea about what parts become the most important and in what order.

Must be 2wd or high mileage. Both? That's a pretty color and a great price.

I couldn't get my lower control arm off without cutting the cam bolts. Depending on the corrosion situation on your truck, you may want to add that cost/ hassle to the list.

06 and 05 have the upgraded ball joints. Still can fail. But way less likely with the larger bolts and joint

It's looking like all the ball joints for sure the outer tie rod too is all bad. Was supprised to see that the ball staying in the housing this time (looks like I lost the castle nut or it just snapped... I don't know anymore. But all the joints are old and leaking it's a shit show on the driver's side .

Wow I didn't expect the shaft to fail there. Yeah it's the weakest point, but I thought they normally pulled the ball out of the socket.

Yeah the new 1/2 ton trucks are bigger than the 3/4 used to be. My dad had a 95 f250 and when the 99s came out we parked next to one at the dealer and it was almost comical. The 1st Gen is about what I expect a half ton to look like. The new tundra is pretty damn big.
