Yes is the basic answer. I’m not sure if all the Pros or if the pros at all come with TSS but the grill are the same you just may need to get the aftermarket tss bracket

The 2019 pro grille has the cutout for the tss sensor, but the piece needed is not normally included if you buy the grille

    Welcome from NY.

Why not get a PRO grille pre 2018, since you don't have the TSS sensor? Why pay the extra $ for the sensor cover since you don't have the sensor? Unless you like the 2019 PRO honeycomb grille, just my 2 cents.

Yeah that's the original one i wanted might end up going with that since the other route is more pricey. But that guy doesn't do shipping and its easier to get a brand new one with color matched surround. Wasn't even sure if I had a sensor or not or if it is even needed for me. i sent a message to Roman asking him.

They started the sensor in 2018, so you can go with old style.

@Ichaplain , it's not really your fault, but you stepped in a pile of piss-poor marketing the way you phrased your question. I blame the regional distributor in the Gulf Coast for this confusion:

For several years, TSS in the gulf coast is an option package (wheels, tires, fancy sticker, etc.).

Since 2018, TSS for the rest of us stands for Toyota Safety Sense -- consisting of Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Assist, and some sort of assisted braking collision avoidance bit -- all facilitated by a radar behind the Toyota emblem in the grille (...that seems to malfunction for a lot of folks; many threads here discuss).

Pretty sure the simple answer to your question is, yes, a '19 grille will work with your '16 truck. Option packages like TSS don't limit you on grille selection. If you like the black honeycomb, go for it. Do you "need" a TSS radar-compatible grille? Not at all, because while you may have a TSS sticker on the bed, you don't have a TSS radar behind the emblem in the grille. If you like the look, I'm sure @Roman can hook you up with a forum discount. But...@Jim LE 1301 is trying to save you hundreds of dollars by steering you away from the 2019 since it's astronomically expensive due to a fancy little piece (not included) that allows the TSS radar to function some (pause for effect) of the time.

Clear as mud? My apologies. Just trying to help.

The picture below shows the dealership's "fix" for TSS malfunctions due to moisture inside the radar mechanism behind the emblem on the grille of an '18+. This mess is what a Gulf Coast (pre-'18) TSS does not come with.58562299555__8BBC2BA6-CC6C-4C3B-BF70-30F999867D5E.jpg

@sdde4n. Thanks man. This is my first tundra so I am new to all this. My truck bed says TSS which stands for Toyota Sports Series

I have a 2016 Crew Max TSS so I was clueless as to what the other references to TSS means.

In any event, I wanted to see if it’s a one to one fit for the 2019 TRD pro because I just love that 2019 TRD pro grille and wanted to get one.

Ok I've been trying for days to figure this out in my own but not having much luck.

So from what I gather, my 19 wont work with either style of pro grille without the little cover insert thingy. And then a relocation bracket is also mentioned. Is there a difference in those two things? And it's debatable on how well TSS works with this or these installed?

Also, what if I got the honeycomb grille and just left the spot uncovered?

And are there any other types of aftermarket black grilles that work fine for TSS?

    Any help is most appreciated!

You will need the little cover thing with any grille to protect the TSS sensor. I believe that the 19 PRO grille doesn't need a bracket because it mounts to the grille itself. The earlier PRO grille will need a bracket because there is nowhere to mount it on the grille.
    Hope this helps.

So if I go with the 19 pro grille with the cover the TSS will work normally?

And is ares dot com's grille the one you have? Or have some people here vouches for its quality?

Yes, '19 grille should work fine with TSS.

What I haven't seen mentioned on here yet is that Toyota doesn't have a piece for, nor does it endorse, the use of the '15-'17 Pro Grille for trucks with TSS ('18 and newer). The ARES bracket was sold on here by the dude that was making them, but it sounds to me like he got a cease and desist order from Toyota since he was messing with a safety-related part of the vehicle. Those with more detail, please correct me.

I've emailed the ARES guy with no response, which is why I ended up keeping my honeycomb '18 insert, even though I love the look of the older Pro grilles so much more.

Here's the link to my brand new '15-'17 pro grille (paired with my '18 surround and bulge) for sale on here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/fs-trd-pro-grille-surround-and-bulge-400.50469/

    1) Is there a difference in those two things? -- Yes. One is made by Toyota. The other is an aftermarket roll of the dice, but many on here have used without issue.

    2) And it's debatable on how well TSS works with this or these installed? -- The one made by Toyota will work and is intended for use with the '19 pro grille so you should be fine or be able to return to them.

    3) Also, what if I got the honeycomb grille and just left the spot uncovered? -- I've never heard of anyone doing this. Aesthetics are a personal choice.

    4) And are there any other types of aftermarket black grilles that work fine for TSS? -- Not to my knowledge.
