    Hey there
Anybody have advice on a good rooftop tent for a 2014 Crewmax? Been interested in getting one but wanted the community opinions.

Been using a Tepui for the last 3 years and it's been great.

Still looks like new, and we put it use at least a weekend each month between April - Aug. We've also brought it out on a couple winter trips, and while just needed a little heater to keep us comfortable, it held up nicely.

Not on a crewmax but I’ll join in with the Tepui crowd. Kukenam sky 3, been great the last 4 years.

909AB85F-230A-4F8F-B9D3-B18C59CE643A.jpg Depends on size too. I went 23Zero because of the 3” mattress and California king size bed. Love it, and great dude to work with!
Also you could consider hard top if you want lower profile, but they get pricey fast.

I’m convinced if you stay with any of the brands mentioned you’ll be happy. Problem with RTT once you hit the easy button there, fridge and hot water supply aren’t far behind :) I’m going full kitchen after this summer.

Looking at this same one, but torn between this and the Mt. Rainer from CVT. Being in Canada the upgraded canvas from CVT is appealing for later season camping/hunting. I was hoping to mount a bit lower, does yours stick off the back much? They are 72" long and max space I measured was 69".

I mounted it as forward as possible to still get access to the straps. Only hangs off an inch or two. I went with the 18” from Victory4x4 because of my bikes. And with the kitchen going in also happy on the height. Noticed zero MPH hit after mounting.

I should also mention that I have the 270 awning from them (not mounted yet), so to clear the doors you’ll need the higher clearance. Something to consider.

Good to know. I am in the process of building my own rack that should be fairly customizable, but never thought of that part yet.

looking for the same thing. I would like a low profile mounting option. I have Unistrut rails on my bed now , so i may just add some cross struts and bolt it up.
I found a "no Name" brand of RTT advertised here in portland. $800 for a 2-3 person set up.
Most of these all look like they roll off the same factory line in China.

A lot of them do... But here is the difference... They use different fabric (lower thickness/quality) and have less QC (don't reject some items that others would).
Since you can look before you buy, the QC might not be an issue, but with the fabric, the thicker the better since it will hold up longer AND polly/Coton canvas will help it stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

So :jellydance: of y'all. Wish I could rock an RTT.

I'm also hoping to get a RTT some day. I like what I've seen in the FSR High Country Series tents. No pop-out windows to deal with and super quick setup. I just wish there was something in between the two sizes. The small one would be a little on the small size for my needs and the big one would hang way past the tailgate with my low rack system.

    https://gofsr.com/collections/high-country-series

Interested to see more tent reviews on this thread though.

Good to know. I have been over-researching this since March of this year. I have read a lot about the Smittybilt overlanders , CVT, and Tepui. I feel that there is lot in the "get what you pay for" with regards to these tents. I think for me and where/season i will be using the tent , 8-900 is where i want to be for now. My next purchase after this will most likely be a travel trailer for me and the wife, so the RTT will most likely go to one of the kids.

How long do you find it holds in the air pressure? I recently got one, and will bring my compressor anyway on the trails, but curious lol

From what I understand from their website if you pressurize it to 65psi, which is when the valve will release, that will enable you to empty the whole tank. If you only use a little bit of the water I wouldn’t think there’s room to pressurize more to keep up the flow...
