Wes, I love my AR's but having a projectile traveling at a thousand plus feet per second with my family in the house just doesn't seem safe to me.

    My Sig 716 & 516

But for HD purposes loaded up with some bird or maybe buck shot with my Keltec KSG

It is so hard to be good and not buy guns all the time on this forum.

I like their complete upper for $299.
I am looking to update my Colt A2 w/ carry handle with a Colt flat top upper receiver, but the receiver alone is about $175, then I still want to chop the gas block, add FF HG's, that complete upper is $299. Very tempting, but I am a Colt fanboy so tough call!

Now that I've done it, I wouldn't go back.

For my latest I bought a complete BCM upper group, 18" medium barrel. Had a buddy put the rest together while I was still deployed, and now I love it! With 50gr tipped varmint 223 my very first group was one hole at 50 yards. Nails the steel coyote at 430 at the range every time. Super accurate. Not a rapid fire, play rifle though, use it more for precision.

Im glad your buddy got a good one. I bought one when they first came out and mine was a complete POS. I've had pretty good luck with all of the Keltecs I've owned except the KSG.

His was a newer model. We had no issues at all. We both heard about the problems, but didn't experience any from that weapon.

Never happened to us, and we went through several boxes each. ??? His was purchased last year, so they have been out for a while and maybe some issues were fixed? I can't say anything though. I have a cheap pump shotgun that cycles very well...so I would have no need to spend 900+ on something like this.

I got mine when it first came out cause it looked like a good idea, a bullpup shotty. It started to double feed constantly about 200 rds in and never functioned right after that. My local LGS must know someone at Keltec cause he always got their stufff as soon as it was released. KelTec's are usually really hard to find. Even though they have a bad rep in some circles as far as reliability all my other ones work great. Some of my Keltecs

My buddy was looking for almost 2 years.

The KSGs would be gone before they hit the racks.

I've asked around for those keltec ksg and a few store only take preorders for them and they price gouge them by $300. the only reason I haven't gotten one. But on topic I bought a bushmaster MOE edition and have never had a jam it is a awesome gun and not to bad on price I paid about 1200 for it at sportsman warehouse.

Don't know if this topic has been discussed but an assault rifle is a bad choice for home defense. Especially if you have kids. Those rounds will go through drywall like it's paper until they hit an exterior wall so be mindful of who's bedroom is where. It's also a long gun to be swinging around corners.

Personally for home defense I have a S&W Governor (revolver), first three chambers are 410 bird shot to put an intruder on the ground and the rest are .45 LC.

Edit: Ok, finally read through and this topic was discussed. Oh and myself I have 3 AR's. One is Armalite and the other two are PSA (Palmetto State Armory). Honestly for your first one go with a cheaper option, like the S&W Sporter.
