Added tailgate badges. Simple mod but it makes a huge difference.

Yeah perhaps that's where I messed up, no primer. I just cleaned them up and scuffed them with sand paper. They looked good for a while but my OCD kicked in on them. I noticed even tightening them up I was seeing a bit of chrome scratching through. I p.c.'d them before they had a chance to get worse. Can't say I enjoyed taking them all out, painting, and reinstalling twice each. That ended up being for me a headache, a case of trying to save money, instead of just doing it once and done. Maybe the primer you used will yield better results for ya. I'm hoping for ya. Can't say I've seen many go the led route. I'd have to see it to make a judgement, but being different is sometimes a good thing.

Yeah, I should have taken some measurements while they were out so I knew how much space I had to work with. I may do that when the weather cools down b'c, yeah, I'm not a fan of taking them off and putting them back on again either.

You guys got me thinking I should throw these that been sitting in my garage mod pile for about a year in there.
    20190804_003834.jpg

I've been contemplating it but can't decide 1 way or other. I dont know if it's just the black letters on a mgm or the fact yours are raised, but it looks sweet on your trucks.

I initially had the vinyl ones then swapped them out for the raised metal ones. I think there may be a before and after comparison pic somewhere if you feel like doing some digging. Might be in my albums or build thread.

I hear ya, these been sitting there for better part of a year lol. Been contemplating throwing these OEM tailgate and the OEM red/black bedside trd pros in. Truthfully I've just been really slacking lately on all the stuff I got planned to do. Work, kids, house, and firewood been kicking my ass and pockets lately. I cant even blame money right now since I've got things already paid for just sitting in the garage waiting to go on lol. I gotta step my game up.

I'm guessing yours are the metal raised too?

I'm thinking before I get caught up in them, I gotta install my pop n lock. Then black out my diamondback hardware. Then a couple other things sitting around. Then I'll go and buy more mods like sliders, headlights, and finally some small sticker touches been wanting to do forever.

Tnx. Since I'm in no rush I'm curious how they hold up. In northern NJ the road salt does wonders to metal. Keep me posted if you happen to remember. Let me know if you ever notice any rusting. If they hold up well I might just do this when the time comes. Tnx again.

You know, I'd love to do that. My problem is that I'd probably screw up the alignment and it'd look like a Soul Train Scramble Board.

I liked the 3D letters much more when I saw them on the forum, so I went with them. I think they make a big difference if you have MGM and are using black letters

The TUNDRA depression in the tailgate helps a LOT. Still gotta take your time and not just slap them on there, but it makes it way, way easier.

Are the raised ones you have wet-set? Or dry?
The vinyls I put on my last tundra were wet-set and it made life so easy.

There's a 3M double-sided tape similar to the other badges on the vehicle on the back of the metal ones. The old vinyl ones I had were the thicker, raised kind so they also had similar double-sided tape. The red TOYOTA letters on the tailgate handle are the wet-set kind.

More or less. As long as you just barely touch it to the surface you can pull it off and re-adjust. Once you press it on though, yeah, you're committed lol.

Carbon fiber trim for the pillars from TufSkinz. In the middle of a detail, getting close to done. Chemical Guys CarbonFlex as the base (after full correction, polish, etc). I wasn't all that happy with the CarbonFlex application process but it did have a nice shine and beaded water well. After that is two coats of Jetseal. Then tow coats of Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Pro. Going to follow up with another coat or 2 of wax and then done. I got a much later start to the truck this year. I had the cap put on in mid April, couldn't wax that for 30 days and then it was fishing season. Usually I try to be done with it by early July.
