Hello from MA. I gambled on an older truck for a few thousand... high miles but the maintenance record looked good. So far I have had the front diff rebuilt (with the east coast gear bushing instead of the needle bearing), new starter, one new caliper, ebrake repaired, power steering rack replaced which brings me to how I found this forum....

Currently trying to figure out why after having the steering rack replaced the brake pedal is squishy. Mechanics have now bled the brakes, are saying the MC is maybe coincidentally bad.... searching for that brought me to this forum. They also broke the clockspring, which they are replacing for me. It did sit for a week at the shop waiting for the rack install. Any ideas on this are greatly appreciated.

When it's working I love the truck.

Welcome from Colorado. With those miles it's no surprise that a few things need replacement. Looks like your mechanic it on top of things.

Welcome from NC! Have you checked the brake lines for corrosion? Those earlier models are known for frame rust and underbelly rust to include the brake lines...

    Welcome from Georgia!

Two years ago I gambled a few thousand on an '07 with 270k... it came with zero maintenance records. I systematically performed all of the factory recommended service & maintenance including those listed for Special Operating Conditions. The only surprise repair was the fuel pump, everything else is good to go and I just hit 286k.

    Good luck!

Nice! How tough of a job was the fuel pump? What’d you pay for a pump and how many hours of labor? Thanks Rex.

As luck would have it, the thing died at the dealership so I didn't have much of a choice about who was going to replace it. It had been giving me fits for a couple weeks, and it's been problem free since it was replaced about 2 years ago. I forget what they charged me, but I do remember I could have purchased it much cheaper online and done it myself for less.

Oh my, well glad it is running great now. Looks like the pump is approximately approximately $310 online. Just watched a few videos and best guess would be that this is a 4 hour job with basic garage tools and an empty fuel tank. I’ve never done one so I could be way off.

    Welcome from NY.
Good luck with the repairs. Once it's figured out you will have plenty of more miles to drive.
