So, looking at a used 2019 1794 with 16k miles from a dealer. Listed for $45,300. I've priced new and it looks like the price would be about $47k. I'm thinking I'll offer $40 and go up to $41.

    High or low or reasonable?

If you actually get anywhere near that, post the dealership so we can all buy from there from now on.

Not much of a difference, but it’s showing just under 15k on odometer

Yeah, it's clean and has a nice bed cover and a cool storage box that flips out from under the bed. They've had it for about three weeks.

Edit: I drove it and it has 16 and some change on the odo.

Maybe not. Then I'll buy a new one and get exactly what I want with the full warranty. I've been struggling with whether I can live with the short bed.

Do a quick search for other 2019 1974s in your area, maybe a 200 mile radius with close mileage. That’ll either tell you this dealer is in line with the market or they aren’t. I’d make my first offer after I did a little research.

Thanks. I've been doing quite a bit of research in new. Looks like they've been selling in the $44-48 range withe the avg about $46. If NADA and KBB are right I can't see paying $45 for used.

I originally went to buy used for 38k and the best interest rate they give on used was 3.9. After doing calculations I ended up buying new using Costco pricing brought me down to .9% and my payments ended up being lower than what the used one would have been for 10k dollars less of a truck.
    Just something to think about

I was just gonna say this. In most cases, it seems lenders will give you a better rate on new vs used. With how well Toyota’s in general hold their value, it’s really hard to justif buying something that’s so close to the price of a new one. For $2,000, I’d be buying new all day long.

Even with a 10k difference new was the cheaper price after interest. At my local dealer the upside of buying used is they give you 100k mile warranty instead of the 36

You can find “deals” on EW to fix that.

Very true that was just the only upside I could come up with when it comes to buying used so close to new price range.

Right. Since this is not certified, I would just get the remaining 20k miles left on the mfg warranty unless I wanted to shell out more $ for an EW. I'm thinking more reason to offer the $5k less than new price. If they don't take it there's other options.

You were right lol. That was the price and they said they were not budging. For a few thousand more, I'm buying new and picking my trim, color, etc. and getting a full warranty.

It was one of the wierdest car shopping experiences I ever had. They never even asked for my name and phone number. Turned us loose to drive the truck without asking to see if we had a DL or insurance. Then they agreed it would make way more sense to buy new lol.

:anonymous: probably not. Although, my 2004 Tacoma was 2WD and it would probably be a smarter option for me. But you're right, not a good comparison on the Platinum.

I guess they're willing to take less after all lol.
I'll probably wait until eom and if they're still sitting on it offer them 42.

Now is the time to wheel and deal. They need to move the 2019's b'c the 2020's are incoming. Dealers get factory incentives/rebates based on how many vehicles they move along w/some other metrics. If they want to keep those going and stay competitive, they have to be willing to make deals. Keep in mind that the moment you drive off the lot with a new 2019, it's now essentially a 1-year old used vehicle and you will be the one taking that immediate depreciation hit. Use that to your advantage.

Forgot about that. The value is decreasing for them too as time wears on, so they will need to deal at some point. Just may take longer, especially if they made a helluva deal when they bought it.
