If you have road hazard warranty, replace. If not I would plug if needed.

If you go with the screw method, at least use a little bit of RTV. Lol

I had a screw in one of my tires for around 35k miles. Wore the head off and took the tires down to the wear bars.

They won’t plug that at any reputable tire shop. You can do it yourself and it’ll probably hold. Are you sure that screw punctured the tire? I’ve seen more than my share that when you back out the screw, it never went through. I’d say that’s the risk with driving it home... unless you’re hearing air come out or it’s pretty low on air... you might ruin the tire for no reason. If you aren’t sure, take in to a tire shop and have them spray it or ask them to put it in a tub. Hope it’s easy! Otherwise, I’d follow the advice of trying to get to warrantied through the road hazard if your have it. Fingers crossed for you!

Edit: if you’re taking it to a tire shop for the spray and pray, I’d wouldn’t drive it there like that. Take it off and bring it with you.

If I were do add a few more to my tires, could that work as a snow tire in the winter? I could always move the screw up/down for summer/winter driving.

Absolutely. I’m thinking 100 per tire will do the trick.

All joking aside, take it to the tire shop and see if they can plug patch it. Usually if the puncture is within 1” of the carcass, the tire is done.

Sucks it happened on such a new tire. Same thing happened to my current truck within 500 miles of being brand new.

It punctured. If I move the screw around any amount I can hear air leak out of it. I'm just going to plug it and hope it works

It should work. Be generous on the glue and clip the ends close to flush.

Ah. That blows. At a minimum, I’d plug and patch it but there’s a risk of a blowout or tread separation with that. Leaving the screw in there increases the risk of a blowout or sudden failure even more., especially with the screw in that location. Not sure if you have a spare. If not, this might be the perfect time to grab a cheap rim and mount this tire to it for emergency / temporary use only. Then grab a new tire for daily use. Food for thought anyway.

You probably can get a tire shop that will put a boot in it. It’s like a patch.
