What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Yessir! This is the 2nd time I've ordered Icon products with a delivery estimate of 4-6 weeks only to have them arrive in 1.

Definitely wasn't expexting these this soon.

 

Lucky! I was told 4-6 weeks for co’s with 700# coils and they showed up, 6 weeks to the day of ordering.

 

Bigger tires require a little more stopping power

 

I did this on my second gen Tacoma, it's a common problem on them. I had no idea they had the same in first gen Tundras. ECGS is the way to go with that replacement bearing.

 

I believe it's only the 05-06 with the same issue , easy swap out regardless

Installed Bluetooth receiver and aux. Threaded the aux through the ash tray, fits perfectly inside without the extension.

BT is definitely a little quiet and hollow so I think speakers are next on my list. Any suggestions?

 

I was actually going to ask for suggestions on new brake lines. Not familiar with this brand. Where did you order these?

 

The shit I do for killing rattles and what not also, going back together. Still working on the evap core, slowly getting cleaner with evap cleaner from Toyota and a blow gun.

Only have have had them for a day but noticed a good difference. Seems like very high quality lines.
Unless you're running a crazy lift I would just order stock.
Power stop rotors and pads next

 

You're saying go with stock length on there instead of paying extra? Will they still be long enough? I'm +2" in the front.

 

Im at a 3" lift in front and the + 1" over stock is still slightly long. For whatever reason + 1" over stock comes out to almost 3" longer over stock ‍♂️

 

I'm reading the description and it looks like only some of the 1st gens have 2 brake lines in the rear. I've never noticed that. Did VSC not get offered until 04?
I don't understand why it's more expensive if you don't have VSC. That takes it from 4 lines to 3..

Sounds like vsc is kind of a rare find. Best to verify

 

Yes. First one I was able to smack out with a few whacks with a deadblow. Second one I used a c-clamp ball joint type press to get it going.

Wheelers off-road has em at the same price iirc. Plus you can choose red or black. I got red, non VSC

 

So I just checked and both rear rear wheels have hard brake lines connected. I'm not understanding why they are only sold in sets of 3.

 

Those hard piped lines lead to a manifold in the center of the diff that is fed from a rubber hose. You have non vsc

 

Dash is back in. Sound deadened the thing while I had it off too.

(Strips are because I get the stuff in long strips my buddy gave me a bunch from his place of work, they manufacturer the stuff ford uses in Lincoln’s) basically a thicker dynamat

 

Dang where were.you when I bought mine? I just took a wild guess and got lucky for the most part. I mean the guy from wheelers tried to explain but I didn't understand. You sir just went straight to the point.

It still doesn't make sense why it would cost more to buy 3 brake lines instead of 4.

I'll probably just order from Wheelers as they are a lot cheaper and they are a supporter of the forum.

 

Make sure brake lines are DOT approved

 

I got their red ones to match my toytec coils

 

Drop the blower motor and stick a hose gun up into the tight space. Use the resistor hole where you took your picture as a window to see the results.

Basically, you’ll be hosing off your coils with the water shots/bursts a little at a time. The debris will flow out of the compressor/condensate drip line. I did mine with great success which you can see the results on my ‘build’ page. The amount of cack I trapped with a filter placed below the drip line was nasty. Blower is quieter and more efficient now.

 

I’m back. Think I was banned till last Sunday?, but just logged in today for the first time since my comments got me banned for 3 days.

I’ve gone down a rabbit hole on transmission research pertaining to the A340F.

This week I did the stall/mechanical test. Truck held the test to 2000rpms and then the wheels turned so the test was abandoned per the instruction meaning success! Success meaning clutches not slipping. Line pressure good. Fluid levels good.


Will do manual shift test later in the week. This is secondary confirmation the mechanicals are good and tests the solenoids.

Potentially looking at doing a Valve Body Shift Kit as prevent maintenance measure for the transmission.

 

Glad to see you back. If I did that stall test I would probably get excited when the burnout starts and forget what I'm doing.

The manual shift test should be a fun exercise. Disconnect the solenoid clip and run it through its courses.


All this testing is a build up to:

1) Pan drop for final analysis of transmission.

2) While pan is dropped, do a valve body overhaul for improved transmission performance and maintenance longevity.

Question is, do I want to do this or have a shop do it? Its about $500 in total parts. Might take about a day max for a pro.

 

How does this work? Found any good videos or instructions on it?
