    its heavy. 7000 dry probably 8000 with all my stuff. 99 percent of my towing is flat being on long island. after driving to PA probably done with going through NYC. i normally take it on a ferry to connecticut to get off the ialand. truck pulled great. myself though i wouldn't take it through real mountains

    4000 rpm is fine. Like others have said already it is a gas V8. You have to rev it to get the power. You'll also see higher RPM's in tow mode since it holds the gears longer and seems to be more aggressive with the downshifts while braking.

    Nice rig @Ynot_tonY. From the pic, it appears there is a WDH, but apparently the arms are not cranked in. Either that, or the adjustment needs fine-tuning.

    I see what you are saying. But unfortunately with my truck myself and the guys at the camper place tried everything we could with my lift I couldn't get it to level without the bumps.

    I purchased my 12 CM Tundra with 4004 miles and towed the hell out of it for three years. Sold the truck with 89000 miles. No blown motor towing over 3k rpm continuously.

    You might take another look at your hitch adjustment. From decades ago, I had a WDH (I think it was a Curt)...I believe that thing would have lifted the rear wheels of my little 4Runner off the ground if I didn't check front fender height. Guys selling campers should know what they're doing, but incompetence is all around us. The fact that they can't keep the tow vehicle close to level doesn't seem right to me, bwdik.

    The ball height on WDH hitches is typically adjustable, and the first step in the adjustment process is to level the trailer/tongue and measure the height of the coupler to determine required ball height on the tow vehicle. If the ball height is too high, the tongue is sloping up to meet the ball, and some of the available travel of WDH has already been used up with no gain. There are several youTube videos by manufacturers. Here is one for Equalizer, but it starts after the proper ball height has been determined.     Edit: @Mnorris1206 Ah, now I get it. Your lift has put your ball really high. If you've run out of adjustment on your WDH, it is what it is. The only solid alternatives are a taller trailer or a shorter truck. ;)

    See my edit above. Give it shot at other places, but if your WDH is at the bottom of it's ball adjustment (something you can inspect and confirm), your options may be limited.

    Another thing that occurs to me is the new WDH designs have an angle adjustment for the ball-mount (has an insert with washers). My old Curt had a fixed (but height adjustable) ball-mount, and a fixed angle was built into the arm trunnions. Adjustment of the ball-mount angle on newer WDH is about the second step in the installation instructions, and done in conjunction with the ball height adjustment. If your ball height is OK, then the ball-mount angle may need adjustment, and the ball height rechecked.

    @JohnLakeman my lift has me sitting level almost at a negative rake. I think when I was stock I had a very slight take with the camper hooked up or I was level.

    I might play around with it when I find some free time.

    I have thought of this my trailor is really low compared to.most I have thought about reversing the shackles on it I have seen people do that before then can run a taller tire as well

    I've thought about doing the same thing. On paper I don't think the Tundra could even tow the smallest tandem axle dump trailer when loaded.
