What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Mine was also just laying there but it also looks like a tombstone instead of a round thing. I put some 3m high tack on it and stuck it to the fender.

Tip for anyone thinking about this. I have an ‘05 DC with adjustable height. I bought an ‘06 DC driver’s seat without adjustable height. The outside frame rail is significantly different in size and will not bolt up. I don’t know if it’s because of the year or height adjustable sear. It would have been a PITA so I didn’t switch them. If you’re good with drilling new holes then no problem. I didn’t want to deal with that part.

 

i didnt want to mess with DC seats or sequoia seats fearing it would be differnt. sounds like i was right in thinking so. My new seats bolted right in from an 04 access cab. the wiring isnt working but i'll get that sorted out.. in all reality i need 05-06 seats. but those have yet to pop up. retrofit the seat position sensor and put some new belt buckles in and im golden

 

I've been looking for one of these for awhile...if it all works and nothing is broken and you didn't have to drive far, I'd say you got a decent deal based on what I've seen.

 

They are not the same shell size but they are close. Whether it's close enough for you depends on your expectations. They will look fine non the outside, but the bed rails sizes are just different enough that getting a good seal will be almost impossible if you have a shell made for a DC/AC and try to put it on a AC/DC.

 

You have basically what I have except I went 1.25 or 1.5 in the rear.

Look for some extended sway bar links...otherwise you'll have lots of groans and clunks from the front. I picked up the SuspensionMaxx extended links and have been very happy with them.

 

Put on new headlights as on of my corner lights decided to fall out the other day. Planned to retrofit these, but wasn’t so into the electrical tape holding the old ones together.

Also loaded the truck up with a giant bounce house for my daughters bday party.

Yeah, we don’t normally head there during the busier summer months but got too late of a start for the planned Lassen trip. Bowman isn’t a bad backup choice.

We took Bowman rd. Hit dirt when the sun went down which made the river washout a little fun. Only time I put her in 4 and she didn’t slip once.

We’re heading to White Rock lake in 2 or 3 weekends if you want to join and get some fishing in.

 

That's cool. I haven't gone through that River section since last year. I had to tow out a lifted Dodge Ram last time I went through there. Lately we've been going out through the little town of Washington. But that's only because I got a buddy that lives there. I was in the bowman area about two weeks ago. We went and did some boat in camping on the far side of Sawmill lake by the waterfall. I would love to go out to White Rock Lake with you guys unfortunately I won't be able to make it. I'm getting married in August and got way too much stuff to do to get ready for that. Come September though I would be down to go do some Wheeling / camping.

 

Yeah, we’ve been wanting to take the kayaks and sups up to sawmill, that waterfall looks awesome!

A wedding is a good excuse, plus the weather will be cooler then. I really want to see your truck in action. I’m at the point where I need to regear and want to see your oba setup for the arb and the sway bar disco’s.

Unlocked the truck today and opened the door. Found out the alarm is working! Lol guess it armed even though there’s no door locks present. Guess I’ll be ordering actuators this week

 

We should definitely go out and do some wailing and camping this fall. If you haven't been out on Sawmill yet you should definitely check it out. In my opinion it's one of the coolest Lakes in the area.
Regearing is definitely worth the time and and money. Especially if you're running over a 33 inch tire. And if you're going to regear this is the perfect time for a locker. If you do a locker are you just going to do the rear or are you going to do the front as well?

 

I might take a kayak up there for a day trip this weekend!

The plan is 4.88’s and a rear arb. I don’t plan on putting the truck in a situation where a front locker is needed. Plus, bumper and winch are on the list after regearing. Once she gets retired from a DD and these 285/75’s wear down, 315’s will soon follow.

 

Pulled the grill off the truck. Let the plasti-dipping begin!

 

Got this done before a storm rolled in. The Plasti-dip was primarily to see if I liked the look. I think this looks great. I'll be pulling it all of again tomorrow or the next day and using paint to make the change permanent.

I removed the V8 emblem and it looks way cleaner imho. I haven't decided yet what to do with the Toyota emblem. I'm thinking maybe a dark grey?

 

I think it looks great like that but I'm sure dark grey would look good too. Now polish those headlights please.

 

I'm going to leave the chrome logo for a bit, maybe plastidip it grey to test out the look. I also thought red might work, but I have no other bright colors on my truck.

New headlight housings should be arriving this week.

 

New front bumper came in, looks straight. Might try to mount it up tonight if the weather holds.

 

My sliders come in today

 

Changed the oil, Valvoline Advanced 0w-20 and a Wix XP filter since O'Reilly's had a special. Bought 2 5 quart jugs of Castrol Edge 0w-20 on Amazon for $16 for Prime Day and picked up 5 Toyota filters.

Bottled a sample to send to Blackstone. Oil had 8500 miles on it so we'll see what the numbers are.

Pulled the rear diff breather and cleaned it out. Wasn't terrible but there was a little pressure when I removed it.

Greased the SPC ball joints, took 10 pumps on each side. @FirstGenVol I think it was you that asked.

 

This showed up as I was walking out the door for work just now...

 

I asked too. I probably should grease mine tomorrow
