Anybody knows these guys?? Lol

Been on the lake and be fighting with these guys. They run in a group of 4. One almost made it in our kayak fishing last night. Have not found one in the pondtoon About to head out to a gun shop. Forget mine at home.

 

I just leave them be.

No Bueno!! One of the few poison snakes in the SE that WILL chase you.....ask me how I know.

water moccasin, they'll fuck you up good, super aggressive, esp during the heat of summer. I wouldn't kill them, but then again i'm a sick fucker that'll bare hand a rattle snake and release it away from the house

If they have big eyes they are not-poisonous, if they are small beady eyed then they are poisonous. Contrary to popular belief, Water Moccasins or Cotton Mouth are not aggressive and usually avoid human contact. The non-poisonous snakes act more aggressive and try to mimic the Water Mocs. 95% of time or better folks think that a water snake is a Water Mocs. or Cotton Mouth and its not.

 

They have a diamond head. Thought those was poisonous snakes

Pictures are too grainy to be sure. The bottom looks like a harmless water snake.

Just leave them alone they have no interest in you. If you can see them you are in no danger what so ever. I have both in my ponds at home. Never been an issue. Water snakes are known for flattening their heads into an arrow head with the intention of intimidating a predator( you), sadly it gets them killed by people

 

They can also come into your John boat. I ask me how I know. Moccasin in the boat I got I the water.

Happened out on the Edisto River when I was a kid.

 

For all of you that think a cotton mouth is aggressive and will chase you, please stop spreading misinformation

This is true. Hard to tell from the pictures, but looks like water moccasins. Ever seen Lonesome Dove?

 

They’re only poisonous if you eat them.

 

Doesn't look wide enough to be a moccassin, the tail is also awfully narrow, and it's swimming half under...usually moccasins swim on top.

 

Had two of them try to get into our boat last year, down on Lake Arrowhead in Texas. Very aggressive. And I was without my pistol, of course.

 

They are very mean. Lol.

My vote is Diamondback Water Snake. For me no snake, except a king snake of any variety, is really a good snake. I understand moccasins tend to lift their head above the water as they swim. The pics you show have head in water. But I am not a snake guru.

 

I don't like any snake. If its bigger than an earthworm, I'm killing it!

 

Yellowbelly water snakes look like moccasins, are aggressive, and are common in Southeast Texas and SW Louisiana. Where are you?
