What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Looked into all 3 and honestly the Hellwigs fit my needs the best. I rarely ever haul anything more than can be picked up at a big box store. I also needed less than an inch of lift to level it out which was easy to dial in since they are adjustable.

For $100, I call it a win. Free shipping with Amazon Prime also.

 

A small achievement, but at his age, a denfinate one. Good job Ironman.

 

Open wire. Don’t know why. There’s no connectors between it and he fuse box. It’s odd

Put some new 100w Osram H4's in my headlights today and finally did the rear diff breather relocation mod. Now I'm ready for high water if this tropical storm hits us this weekend

Man I can’t tell you how much I love seeing stuff like this, just goes to show how awesome these trucks are putting up diesel mileage like that.

 

Sony component 6.5s from walmart. Paid less than $80 for all 4 speakers.

 

I'm missing one nut for my sway bar bracket. Where the bracket circled below mounts to the frame there are 2 bolts. Can't seem to find one online.
Anyone know where I can find one?

I do so much hauling and towing and the 02’ rear end stays real high with no helper springs ever. I’m amazed at these springs as they never give up. Still have rake (I likey) with Billybobs 5100 set at one notch up which looks stock if you ask me.

Not sure why as I see some Tundras with grandma sag in the rear.

Maybe the off road package is the key for me?

 

It's a long story.
My username on Tacoma World was "because_minitruck" and I sold my taco for my tundra, so "mini" didn't quite fit, hence "because_v8". But I wanted my user names here and on TW to match. I was thinking of antonyms for "mini" when I remember a spongebob bit about changing from "M for mini, to W for wumbo" and thought it was fitting and only the initiated would get the joke without a lengthy explanation lol

The name change joke is mainly for my TW peeps that have a better chance of getting it.

 

Its on there. I've just been rolling with only one bolt secure on that side instead of two. Each bracket has two bolts. Probably not a huge deal as it feels secure but I'd rather get the other one back in place.

 

Full seizure mode with the added butter and bevishead goings on.

Mine has been doing something like that between 4th and 5th lately too. I'm thinking it's a little low on fluid from when I replaced a cooler line clamp. It's similar to cutting myself and thinking wow that could have been pretty bad, good thing I didn't lose too much blood and then.. Man I'm light headed.

At least that's my hopes. I just got the torque app and the Bluetooth obd2 adapter so I can actually see the trans temp when I get around to my drain and fill.

 

For those with a modern, Bluetooth enabled touch screen, anybody try to connect a bluetooth obd2 to it and display the gauges on your touch screen? Just a thought... Would be neat

 

This is transmission news bummer guys. Has anyone tried multiple drain and fills on their fluids?

 

I’ve pretty much determined it’s an issue inside. Fluids bright red and I checked the level with the special tool Toyota gives us. I have a feeling it’s failing accumulator piston seals. But I want to do a shift kit so I’ll replace that while I’m in there

 

If it is just seals it’s saveable for way cheaper than a new trans FYI

Can someone explain what a shift kit is?

 

I was checking my diff breather mod for leaks an noticed the passenger side of my trans x-member is a bit crushed and torn. I remember coming down on it hard once at the off road park. But I never noticed it til just now.

Is this a problem?

 

its modifying the valve body with drilling and changing internal parts of the valve body for a harder shift
you'll feel the shift more, but the clutch packs will usually last longer and you also gain some acceleration from the quicker time down between gears. your effectively modifying line pressure

 

Who makes aftermarket plate rear bumpers for these trucks. Toyota wants way too much for a new one. And aftermarket still is kinda pricy for something made in China. Rather support an American builder for it



Or I’ll weld one up. But it’d be ugly or the costal off-road, but modified, I don’t want to cut my bedsides
