Whats up PNW crew.
Anyone heading to the Long Beach area over Independence Day ?
Ill be in the black tundra out on the sand by Jack's store.

 

We are heading out to the Manzanita area to take the kid to the parade. Forecast is looking nice!

Once I pull them for foil and cider someone will be here to help lift out of the truck.

Do you separate the diggers? For years I kept them all as 1 unit (what mom taught). Then years back a friend fried up diggers-only when we had an overload of limits.
Now, the outside chewy goes into freezer bags for chowder, and fillet-out diggers are pan-fried to perfection.

Edited to add - speaking of, Costco had Halibut for $10 a lb!!!!
Last night I fillet up a chunk and pan fried. Delicious

 

Yep, we separate the parts too. Usually we do it all the same day. Breaded and deep fried digger as an appetizer with chowder for the main course. This meal we will use the whole thing.
What a fantastic way to spend the day! Wish I was closer to Costco, halibut is usually about $30/lb .

 

Where are you at? Just pull up a picnic bench, use seat and table as steps up into the truck and just leave it lol

 

That looks delicious. They also had scallops at $13/lb the other day, I snagged up some of those when I was there. I like dinners that take 4 minutes to cook.

 

Oh for sure! I almost did those too!
Opted for steamers because the daughter likes these more.

 

Trying to get the family out the door early to get up to Hood River for the 4th, then up to my parents place in Parkdale to relax for the weekend. Hopefully get the kayaks out too.

@Amnesiac saw you got hitched in Parkdale, that's where I grew up, small world!

 

I’m guessing HR has a pretty cool 4th, they do everything cool there. Hops fest is my fav.

My family is renting a house up in Parkdale in August, really looking forward to it. I love being in the shadow of the mountain. We’re gonna take a trip up to Cloud Cap and do some hiking, it’s probably been 15 years since I’ve been up there.

Humble brag from my wedding, but this is why I love Oregon.

We kayaked the Kalama yesterday and today. It kicked ass.
Now having desert over the Columbia....sooooo nice out!

 

My buddy’s off-road van conversion - he setup camp a few feet from the river

 

I have a strong desire to build something similar someday when the kids are older, that thing looks badass!

 

It’s pretty sweet! Interior has all LED’s, fridge, sink (hot water), sleeps 5, couch, solar panels on top. It’s pretty badass.
There’s a swing-out bike rack on back with a BBQ/platform as well.

 

Well I did a thing today. I wasn’t planning it but it happened..

Next up is the wife’s 4Runner or Highlander. She liked the new RAV4 but watched like 6 older ladies buy one while we were at Toyota today.

 

Thank you! I had a 14 4R before my 1st Tundra. We loved it just needed a truck. The Highlander just popped up on the radar. I guess we will see how it goes. We should do the smart thing and wait till next summer...but you know how that goes sometimes...."Oh look something shiny".

Kids enjoyed the deer. Our deer at home bolt as soon as they see you. These were like dogs lol.

P.s. for the PNW Crew that just loves frolicking in our great weather we’re blessed with.
Rtic has their killer sale going on right now, and I used their $80 pop-up for the first time this weekend, it seems like a commercial $300 piece. I can’t believe they mark them down this low!! I seriously would pay $200 for it.
I ordered one last time Rtic had their “Deal Days” and I’m ordering a second one tonight and getting rid of my crappy $70 Dicks one.
