I couldn't find a hunting thread so I'd thought start one. After 4 years of archery hunting I finally got my first deer with a bow

This is immediately after I shot him, he fell where he stood 851767c8635e69894bd813681d02df03_7eb03c7ecb10997622f9394f711f6ef0a1e352f8.jpg

Aaron congrats! I am glad you put this up. I hunt strictly with bow anymore. Where are you located?
I really dig your choice of Mount. I'm in Southeast GA and since Andrew the mosquito have been absolutely horrible... worst I have ever seen so I haven't been hunting yet. It's finally getting cool enough to keep the skeeters at bay in the morning. I may get out the ba40 this weekend.

Here is my best year of rifle and archery bucks (2016). Haven't drawn a rifle buck or doe tag in 7 years. Sorry about the bloody archery pic. Rifle had 9 scorable point on each side, archery was a 4x4 with 8.5 brows and 13 inch g2s

Nice deer. Do you have to enter a lottery just to be able to deer hunt. I guess I've always been spoiled, we just have to buy a tag that is good for either a buck or a doe and in many counties you can buy additional doe tags.

Yes, here in North Dakota it is a lottery system for rifle tags. Archery is over the counter (1 tag) for now it will probably end up changing to lottery also bc the deer numbers have been down the last 5 years...

Is there a fairly low population in N. Dakota? What has driven the population down the last 5 years? Disease?

Not so much disease but coyotes are terrible and tough winters. 10 years ago you could apply for the lottery then buy almost as many doe tags as you wanted.

#1 is the one I helped my sister out with. I ran over her butt-stock as I was backing up to a better angle for the winch
    #2 I helped my g/f tag
#3 is the one I tagged
#4 felt like a thorn in my arm pit around 1:30, got home and went to shower at 7:30ish and found this

I'm out in Western Oregon. Luckily my G/F's step father was staying at our house for a few days while working in the area and is a paramedic. He pulled it out for me with tweezers and said Lyme Disease isn't real common out here. I'm glad my G/F was at work cuz I'm sure she would've stuck a hot needle in my arm pit like we do to the dogs when they get ticks.

Does a blank pic count? Finally going to snow here this weekend. Maybe I can track something. I've got the grouse hunting thing down. My buck tag expires Sunday. Last chance.

Last year I got really sick and was in and out of hospital...my last stay was for 4 days and dealing with infectious disease doctor. Doctor said I would not of made it much longer if not treated. They still don't know for sure, but possibly Rocky mountain spotted fever or at least something from a tick. Good times! Wear your bug juice gents!

Very nice Deer everyone. Hope to post something myself soon

Any morning you wake up means you are still breathing. A good thing.
