Ok folks so I have a gray tundra (pic below ). Got an nfab bumper with Baja and a light bar plus apex all pro sliders. Put POR15 on them and it’s kinda gloss. What do people thing flat back bumper and sliders or gloss?

Nice looking sliders! Flat for sure. It will match better with the rest of the black Toyota uses on their bumpers

I coated mine with Herculiner and they came out really nice and it is in between a flat black and a satin black if that helps.

Yoshi82- I used two cans for the project and let them dry in the sun for two hours between cans. $14.99 for each can.

TRDwillie14- So my thought process on using the Herculiner. I am vertically challenged at 5’7 and so is my wife at 5’5
(My poor kids) so we needed the sliders to dual as a good useful step so I thought if I lined them it would give just enough texture for grip but not look like a truck bed. I tested out a couple liners on some scrap metal and the Herculiner was just what I was wanting with the metal look still showing with a bit of texture. And the color just happened to work well.

@Rig4war dude right on I’m going for the same thing I got a quote to linex and it costs more then the sliders and was looking for something for the wife and kids. Do they make different shades of the stuff where did you get it ? Did you primer them ?

TRDwillie14 - I did not prime first looking back I should have just do to the possibility of rust. I just cleaned/ prepared the metal with Dupli-color grease and wax remover for prep paint. Then went at it with the Herculiner.
I got mine from Autozone but I think most automotive places will have it. As far as colors go, I only saw one shade of black when I bought mine.

That POR will fade if you didn’t put a top coat on it. Then you will have flat black!

POR15 is a great product, just make sure you got the uv stable version (chassis black usually isn’t as it’s typically under the vehicle) or else it doesn’t last very long. The good news is if memory serves you can go over the POR15 with a top coat to protect it. Admittedly it has been a while since I last used it and they may have migrated to making everything uv stable to avoid confusion/issues but it’s still good to verify and save some heartache down the road.
