I HAD MY BRAKE SYSTEM PURGED WITH NEW FLUID (DOT3) AT A NEIGHBORHOOD REPAIR SHOP. MY BRAKES WERE FINE WHEN I DROVE IN...AFTER THE PURGE THE BRAKES WERE ALMOST NON EXISTANT...THE SHOP INDICATED THAT I HAD A BAD MASTER CYLINDER. APPARENTLY DAMAGE TO THE MC OCCURED DURING THE PURGE THROUGH NO FALUT OF THE SHOP??? IT COST $400.00 TO GET MY TRUCK MC REPLACED!
HAS ANYONE ELSE RUN INTO THIS PROBLEM?

I’ve heard of a master cylinder going out after a brake bleed. Either they forced new fluid through and damaged a seal or the clean fluid worked something loose.

They probably let it get too low as they pumped it through and damaged the seals.

    I CANT HEAR YOU!

Seriously, I been seeing many 05-06 Tundra guys complaining about failed cylinders here. Likewise, many ABS problems with people losing their Marbles over it.

Sounds like the OP’s cylinder was on the edge and the new fluid knocked it over.

$400 sounds like a good deal for replacement.
