When I start from being stopped on occasion I am feeling a small thud coming from what feels to be the back of the truck. It feels similar to like having something in the bed and it hitting the bed wall. It is not all the time but does happen. Anyone else having this happen. 2014 tundra crewmax with 900 miles.

I had a sound like that on occasion on my Tacoma. Turned out to be fuel slosh in the tank. But only when it was at a certain level.

Yeah I thought fuel slosh at first but it doesn't feel quite like that and it has done it even with a full tank.

    I have not. 14' 5.7 crewmax with 1300 miles.
I agree with these guys, take it in and see what the dealer says. Only thing I can think of that wouldn't be a mechanical issue would be a loose spare, but that would rattle when hitting bumps not just stopping/going.
    Good luck, keep us updated.

This is going to sound stupid, but I had something somewhat similar in my Taco...know what it was? A loose bolt in my bed....

You know while that sounds crazy I did just have a spray in bedliner done about a week or so ago. I'm at the dealer now and just let them know what you posted. For what it's worth I hope it is that and not something else. Definitely not the spare because I did my own "shake test" and got nothing. Should have gotten that on tape it was entertaining. I will keep everyone updated on what they say. It was refreshing to show up and say yeah I just put a spacer lift on it and them say "oh yeah that's no problem it won't effect the warranty." Starting to like Toyota even more now!

So you had the lift done and then started feeling it? If so, I bet it is a little axle wrap if you have blocks in the rear. Yes interested in what they find.

I absolutely love the brown they use for our trucks... Looks really nice man

A lot of guys don't want badging or decals on their trucks these days, but I love the retro striping on old toyotas. Brown paint with cream color decals.... Ha, I may look into something similar at some point. Old school!

What lift did you go with? It looks great. I am concerned with post lift alignment issues and premature tire wear. Did the alignment come out fine? Thanks.

Ok so the issue was happening before the lift and after going to dealer yesterday they seemed to believe that it was a slip-yoke issue and it needed grease. Haven't felt it again yet so we will see. The lift is from toy-tec and I love it. The dealer was able to align it no problem, but I still have the factory wheels and tires on it for now. I am still staying at the factory width on tires just going taller and running BMF 20s. So for now issue seems to be resolved and if anything else happens or it comes back I will post updates.

Ok well the "thud" is still happening, bed bolts were a little loose but I tightened those some but didn't want crank them down too much. Does anyone know what torque those are suppose to be at? Taking it back to the dealer next week. Guess we will start again trying to figure out what it is. I have also noticed that the transmission will sort of "let go" almost like a cvt. the truck will slow down as I brake and start downshifting, but once it gets to the last couple of gears it let's go and you have to brake harder to stop. So being new to toyota I am assuming that this isn't normal, but also wonder if anyone is having or has had this issue as well? If not then I am starting to think that this could all possibly be a transmission problem. Sorry for all the questions just trying to protect my investment.

Thats ur computer learning...have them re-flash it and then drive it harder...the 'down shifting' will disappear...at least, that's what I've read on another forum.

As for the torque- just nail the summabitch down

Gotcha. I will inquire with the dealer tomorrow and see what we can figure out. In the meantime I got my wheels and tires mounted this weekend! image.jpgimage.jpg

I had the same thing happening to me on my truck. It sounded like my bed was loose or something rolling around in the bed. I would hear it when I went over speed bumps and sometimes braking and taking off. I haven't heard it for a couple months and what I think it was is the trailer hitch bouncing around in the receiver. I kind of forgot about it, not sure if that was the exact problem. It went away since my hitch is out.

This might sound stupid, but I had the same thing and it turned out to be the owners manuals sliding off the shelf in the glove box and hitting the glove box door.

My 14 had a similar issues, knock when coming to a stop and sometimes taking off. Ask the dealership to look into your t-case. Toyota replaced mine and so far no more issues.
