How many of you daily drive your tundra? How many miles are you traveling. I would be looking at 48 miles a day 5 days a week. We currently own a 2010 camry that I have been driving to work for the last few years it’s a good car. And most recently we purchased the wife a new Kia Telluride. So now my debate is to keep the Camry and park the truck or sale the Camry and put it toward getting the Telluride paid off. (PS I HATE debt). And drive the truck daily.

2010 Camry has 112k on it paid for.
2015 Tundra has 72k on it paid for.
2020 Kia well it’s new and not paid for lol.
So just curious if y’all daily drive your truck or not and if so do you enjoy it or wish you had a commuter car?

I drive 37 miles each way to office. It piles miles on my truck and I hate it but I enjoy my truck so I guess it’s worth it. Makes me sick to destroy it with miles though.

I daily drive my truck a min of 44 miles a day. Nothing else I’d rather drive and the Tundra is a comfortable truck to drive.

Daily drive mine as well. 40 miles a day and love it. Gave my daughter my commuter car when she turned 16. So my Tundra is now my dd and love every mile.

DD mine as well. About 24 miles a day. Hate the stop and go in the truck but can’t afford a third car right now. Keep the Camry

    Rough calculation:

    $72/mo gas for Camry
    $140/mo gas for tundra.

I spend 2-250/mo in gas with all the driving I do.

About 50 miles one way to work.
So 100 a day at minimum. 5 days a week.
I have a 2004 accent that gets 36 miles per gallon I bought about 10 years ago to drive to work.
Haven't driven it cent's I bought tundra in febuary.
I actually loaned it to my parents a few months ago so battery would stay charged up. And so it doesn't sit and ruin.
Love the tundra. I wish it got better fuel mileage. But drove a 2002 f250 for last 12 years . It got 14 mpg and diesel is a lot higher per gallon.
So I figure my fuel bill went down over all.
At least it sounds good to me . Lol

I'd keep the Camry, with 112K miles it hasn't even reached half its life yet. Daily driving /weekend grocery getter will be less painful to the pocket.

I've had my '07 for 9 years now. It had 115,000 on it when I got it and I'm just over 261,000 now. Everything still works like new.
In a week I'm driving from Vancouver, Washington to Breckenridge, Colorado.
I feel that the Tundra is a reliable vehicle and will last 1,000,000 miles easily. (2 of them already have done that).
Although a new Tundra and more modern amenities would be sweet, I don't feel a payment outweighs the pleasure I still get from this 12 year old vehicle.
It is my daily driver and I love it.
It is awesome to be able to see over traffic in front of me, see over cars at intersections, and accelerate as quickly and effortlessly as I want.
It is a safe feeling, great handling truck, that rides like a car, but has more to offer than a car.
The gas mileage is the only draw back, but the pros outweigh the cons.
I do top off the tank 3 times a week, but I see a lot of trucks that get as poor a mileage as mine and I'm sure they're not as comfortable, dependable or nice looking.
I want to get a bumper sticker that says, "Feed Me More Dinosaurs!".
I know it's not politically correct, but I'm not the only person burning fossil fuels.
And, the Tundra is a truck to be loved and adored!

If you hate debt I’m guessing you are at least vaguely familiar with Dave Ramsey. Given your commute and an estimated extra 75-100 miles a week your looking at under 20k miles a year on your truck which is about the norm. I’d sell the Camry and pay off the damn Kia.

Oh and since you asked I drive my tundra about 30k a year. 25 miles round trip to work weekly and the rest going hunting and fishing!

Yes sir Im a big Dave Ramsey fan! And I like your style I’m an avid outdoorsman as well. Main reason for having the tundra is to get me back into my favorite hunting spots!

Enjoy it man. Your not destroying your truck with those miles. Now get pissed at that loan payment and knock it out!

I met Chris hogan back in February and that guy changed my life. Since March we have knocked out almost half of our consumer debt and are looking to be on step 7 by 2024!

I DD my truck average 17-20 miles each way to/ from work. To work is a straight shot.. go go go..coming from work to home, A LOT of stop and go. Trucks a ‘17 and paid for. I’ll drive it til it cant go anymore. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Where have you been? You don’t write, text, or call anymore. I fell so cheap and sluttish.

I would not sell that Camry. Your truck is pretty bad ass, and you use it for pleasure to do the things the family enjoy/ and hunting.

I would search my posts. I had a long post about what I save over a 10 year period having a commuter car vs daily driving trucks. Hell, my Lexus has been dead on reliable, and I can say for a fact, is way more cost to operate than a Camry (tires cost 890.00, can’t rotate them and last maybe 30k, premium fuel). When I have snow at my house and have to drive the diesel, if it’s 3-4 days in a row, I cringe. 36 gallons goes quick.

My commute is even a little longer than yours, at 39 miles each way, and 90% highway.

My parents had me a little later than most did I guess dad was 30 .
Them being raised by parents that went through great depression they themselves hated debt.
My father is still driving the only new vehicle he ever bought . 1987 Chevy Silverado . Rebuild engine the year he retired. 1999 . It had 350k miles then.
    And raised me the same.
This is my first new vehicle . I'm 49.
I bought my home at age 20 and paid it off in 15 years . I've been blessed to make a decent living as a welder . Even after 5 spinal reconstruction surgeries .
The wife has also been blessed with a good job .both of us only highschool educated.
I've bought her a new vehicle every 5 years or so. So she and the kids were always safe .
Paying off debts is awesome when you can.

I drive my tundra everyday, but I live in a secluded military base where the closest city, Barstow, is 45min away. I’m halfway between Vegas and LA, so going anywhere is a lot of miles but it’s not everyday. I thought about buying a Prius as a gas saver and I’m not ashamed to drive it but I can’t stand getting in and out of “cars”, I also always think about what if something happens on the pavement and I need to drive off-road to avoid whatever has happened scenario in my head and from that I will not drive anything not 4wd and it has to at least have 9” of ground clearance. So I DD my tundra and I love it.

I DD my tundra. Although my commute is about 3 miles both ways for work. I put most of my miles in helping my dad take care of his place on the weekends and out of town trips for hunting.

@ColoradoTJ is damn skippy. The Lexus IS350 is the cats meow for a super reliable (and extremely fun) DD. You can now pick one up with 70-100K miles for such an amazing price it’s ridiculous. WRX STI fast with 75% less hassle and more style.

I moved over to a super comfy Lexus GS350 FSport for a DD, and picked up the Tundra for a work horse truck.
After Dirty Deeds exhaust, Kings, and wheels/tires, the Lexus is completely neglected.
The Tundra took the DD place....which was not the plan. Now I have a 4 year old Lexus that averages 7K miles a year and a Tundra at 20K a year.

I’m not entirely sure what my vehicle plan is for the future. I went from a car guy, to a truck guy, back to a car guy, to a truck guy.
    Thankfully I have both.

My '08 is my DD. I have 137K on it now and I drive 70 miles a day 5 days a week. I have been concerned with the mileage adding up so quickly so I decided to look around for something else to commute with, but for the money I have budgeted I am having no luck finding anything I like. Then I got to thinking that I can buy alot of gas with the money I'm spending on another car along with taxes and insurance, etc. So I think I will keep driving the Tundra and enjoy every mile. It is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. I have back problems and the seating position is so much more comfortable than any of the cars I have owned. ES300, Solara, Camry, Corolla, Avalon....

I hate debt too, I would sell Camry and pay down the loan...just my 2 cents.

Mileage varies. But my office is 7 miles from the house. Some days I’m there all day. Others I’m driving from job site to job site. I typically do about 200 miles a week. I don’t pay for gas though haha.
