I have a 2004 Toyota Tundra about to break 60,000 miles. I have read in the service manual that the timing belt should be replaced at 60,000 miles, but I see some people don't replace it until over 100,000 miles in. I have no clue if it has been replaced before, but I doubt it has been. Should I think about replacing it now? I am about to replace spark plugs and flush the coolant system.

90000 for timing belt change or 6 years I believe. I’d get it changed due to it being 15 years old. Coolant will be changed anyways when doing a timing belt. Also do the water pump and thermostat since it will be easy to change once your in there.

I changed mine at 240k. It looked in good condition.

I may go ahead and change it out then just to be on the safe side!

You may want to look at changing the water pump while you're at it. It will be an easy repair since you're taking it apart.

I believe this is why I changed the timing belt. Because the water pump failed.

This questions pops up a lot(age vs miles). I believe Toyota recommends every 9 years, not 6 as stated above. If you do a search here you'll find mention of the Aisin kit that is sold on Amazon. That's what everyone recommends.

If anyone wants to find the maintenance schedule (or owners manual) for your particular truck, you can go to this link....change the year at the end to your year truck.
