I have had the secondary air pump replaced a couple years ago by Toyota. The CEL is back and I am not going to spend the $2500 to $3000 to get it replaced again, they will only do it once under warranty they say. Can the CEL be tricked to not come on. I have had the codes cleared and the lights come back on. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect I can drive it with the lights off for a couple weeks and then they return. Any help would be appreciated.

I also tried the bypass system. While it does keep it out of the limp mode it does not turn of all the dash lights. I have had the codes cleared and the lights still come back after a couple days. I called the Company and they stated that sometimes it will not fix the lights on the dash problem just the drivability issue.

I just installed the Hewitt tech bypass kit on my 2008 with 155800 miles. So far problem fixed.

The electronic module and wire harness install was easy. Putting in the block off plates was a different story. It's easiest with two people when installing the drivers side plate, one person in the wheel well pushing apart the tubes while the second person lays across the top of the engine and reaches down to slide the plate in place. The passenger side can be done by one person, no steering gear or fuel lines in the way. After doing the install it was obvious that the videos on line show the passenger side plate install which is why the job looks easier than it actually is.

Ya, the block-off plates are a bugger.

Anybody tried a ecu reflash? I just reflashed my friends 4.6l tundra crewmax today, disabled all the codes for air injection pump, i even raised the speed limit to 120mph(106mph stock)

Clearing the codes worked for a while but eventually either the valve stuck hard open or the ECU just wouldn't accept the resets.

I think that a vast majority of those here that are having an issue with the pumps have the 5.7L engine, the software that you're using doesn't appear to accommodate the ECUs used on that engine; at least when it comes to reflashing. Additionally, I don't think a reflash would resolve the issue when the problem seems to be either a physically stuck valve (stuck open/closed) or a blower motor that has been contaminated with moisture or other debris. Cool looking kit though.

X4. After spending $2950 for the replacement system, I'm nervous as hell things will go bad again....just outside of the 1 year warranty period. Planned/designed obsolescence???

Thinking about doing the SDHQ relocation of the pumps up to the firewall as a preventative measure, although the firewall also sees a lot of dust when running trails

This is a permanent solution for the air pump, you can totally remove the whole air pump system without triggering a check engine light
All the codes connected to the pump are disabled
    It will pass emissions testing

Great. But I still have to circle back to it not appearing to offer support for the 5.7L. Unless I'm still missing/overlooking something...is it available in North America?

I looked around some more and yes, it appears that this software may indeed work with the 5.7L engines. I'm not familiar with the software at all though, so those of you who are more savvy and have the time will have to take it from here. http://bitedit.ru/en is where my search ended and may be the place to start for those that wish to pursue it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, I hope that you'll be able to help those that are having issues with this where Toyota has failed.

I can surely help them, the only problem is i have to have the ecu to reflash it
Or they can buy a used one from ebay that matches their original ecu and send it to me to reflash,
if anyone wants to test it out, i can do it for free for the first one who can send a ecu to me
