Have a 2009 Tundra, The clear coat on the hood is fading and looking dull. This is the only place on the truck this happening. Are their products which can be purchased to restore or protect from fading getting worse? Will the continue breakdown in the clear coat lead to peeling of the paint?
Considering taking to a paint/body shop to get an estimate to repair. Have taken it to detailer and told me that he cannot do anything to restore the shine.
Any input or any other owners have this issue.

Clear coat cannot be fixed. best option have area repainted, recleared, and try to protect in future.
10 year old finish, not real uncommon.

Once it starts to go, you're screwed unfortunately. Will need to be repainted and cleared like @Trooper2 said. You could have the hood wrapped to hide it but I'd personally go for the repair the right way

I would also get on top of the rest of the paint asap before other areas start to do the same. Get the whole truck polished and sealed with a polymer or SiO2 sealant like carpro reload or hydro2 asap, and reapply that sealant every 3 months or so and a maintenance sealnat like beadmaker every month.

Got quotes from local paint shops, range from $600.00-$900. Now need to decide if I want to keep the truck for another 2-3 years, been contemplating purchasing 2019 Tundra.

Not too terribly high. You are liable to take that much of a hit on resale or trade-in if not taken care of.
Even on high end thst is less than two months payment for most.

    Good Luck!

@Maverick61 Did you check the top of the truck also? The flat horizontal surfaces have a lot more exposure to the elements and wear the fastest. The sides are often shaded and get a glancing blow from the sun and weather.

My 08 the hood and the fenders seem to be the most faded but I have been keeping it waxed and put up in the garage seems to help a little but. I know paint is coming soon. Sounds shady but I would buff it before going to trade it in. Not that bad to do its something people do alot anyway. Lol
