Added some TuRD patches to the headrests. They are iron on types, but currently holding strong in the picture with double sided tape. Adds some flair.

Customized a grease tip to pump the 4wd propellor zerks/joints which are difficult to access compared to the rear propellor.

Pictured is a regular grease tip with a portion grinded off the side so that it allows a superior connection for grease pumping.

Sound proofing the smart low cost way using butyl rubber big box window/door tape and repurposed Heller Fresh food insulation that actually is a close OEM match up. Makes a pretty good difference is sound reduction. Or, my hearing is going bad? What?

I've been thinking seriously about grabbing a roll of the sound control stuff my company makes for flooring, and using it for this myself.

90 mil-thick bitumen will knock down that road noise!

I’m familiar with the flooring deadener and that is actually better than the butyl rubber I used. Its heavy and a little harder (I would think) to work with but your product is probably more superior. Your sound system will sound better once you do the doors. Mine does.

    That's what I'm hoping for!
When it comes time that's what I'll try since I can get it for next to nothing. This stuff is very dense, a roll of 225 sf is damned heavy! It's not nearly as sticky as protecto or actual sound deadening products, so I'll have to prime the metal first, but that'll be easy.

The Michelin 285/75/r16 ‘Defenders’ are very good sand tires. Excellent on the road, as well.

This re"build" thread is great! Since I'm not that familiar with various components and locations of each, I'm a big fan of your line drawing labels that help me "see" what all comprises each "system". I say "system" because I also appreciate that you maintain and retrofit one system at a time. Great learner thread for the rest of us. This'll be where I send other 1st gen owners as they sign up to the forum.

Thank you for spending your time to chronical your work @Professional Hand Model!!

Toyed around with going yellow on the fogs. I like to change things up, but the crystal look seems better for some reason. This pic was taken on an ‘Island Hopping’ day.

Or you could try these. I have em on my truck. But eventually I also added the lamin-x yellow covers.

If I did decide to go yeller, I’d try that film you recco’d. My PerfectFit LED’s Fogs Bulbs are brand new and not into buying new bulbs. This film, I assume, can be easily removed?

This week in the Chronology: Inspected the ‘V’ belt and it was slightly deteriorated with about 50k miles since replacement. Bought a new one and it took about 30 minutes to install. Only had to remove the A/C line bracket to move that hose ever so slightly.

Also, removed the bed liner and sprayed Rustoleum liner and re-installed the factory plastic liner which got sprayed, as well. The Rustoleum slightly firms up and rigidifies everything from a structural standpoint. Greased up all the pivot points on the gate and handles.

With your headlights I understand you use katana 9003 For your headlights, but for my fogs I do not see a set for 9005's. Also do you have some sort of resistors and if so what are they?

My fogs are PerfectFits from Headlight Revolution. No resistors on the fogs or the Katanas.

PerfectFits are not available anymore, but their replacements (under a different name) look the same and have the same specs/LED chip and are probably made at the same factory and branded differently.

Painted up the scratched/dinged up tailgate using 1D6 Lacquer color match and gloss clear coat. Turned out nice, but the new clear coat isn’t as glossy as the factory resulting in a slight matte finish. Also, painted up the rear bumper black plastic with bed liner. Before and after pics.

Some various maintenance and repair items performed recently.

Rear cab corner leak source fixed. Used Fuze caulk to seal this entry point after a clean up.

    upload_2019-10-31_8-17-14.jpg

New rear driver bearing time. Finally fixed after 5 years of wha wha wha noise in the cab.

So clean and different look without the storage boxes in the bed! Your build is actually making me back track on my decisions on my truck. After riding in my dad's pretty much stock (1st notch on billies) 2000 tundra,...billies at the 4th notch right now kind of really suck to me! Im thinking maybe moving down to the 2nd notch and removing the 1 inch block I put in the rear.

    Thank you.

Do it. These trucks don’t require that extra height for basic off-roading. If you are street driving, then that height is actually even more detrimental to your suspension/drive train components.

Just my opinion. Not knocking anyone with lifts, spacers, yuge tires, etc.

I think my next move in 4-5 years, if I still own this truck, will be the Billy 6120’s up front and new 5100’s in rear.
