Well I lost my gerber and am looking into options for an everyday carry knife under $100.

    My requirements are:

    Grips that arent slippery
    Quality steel
    Under 4 ounces
    Decent locking mechanism

I really like some of the Kershaw and Spyderco blades, but unsure of which would suit my needs best.

    What do you guys carry?

Which Kershaw do you have Chris? Those are the main ones I have been looking at but having a hard time deciding between the skyline, blur, and knockout.

I assume you are talking about the "ally" listed at $45? Looks nice and would go well with my HK VP9, but I really want one with some grippy handles like the g10 material.

Check out the Benchmade mini grip. I keep that on me at all times. Perfect size for EDC.
    Tons of different handle/blade options.

The most useful knife I have had was a safety award prize. it was a Buck style Chinese knockoff with a blade that was soft as tin foil, a lock that didn't always hold and a blade that wiggled back and forth in the handle. Not even good for opening paint buckets.

What made it useful was I carried it around for a long time and used it as a loaner when someone wanted to borrow my knife. They would usually bring it back pretty quick and never ask to borrow a knife from me again. They did not need to know about the Gerber I had!

I highly recommend Kershaw. Cryo II, Blur, and Clash are among my favorites. Kershaw will sharpen your blades for free if you ship them to them and send them back on their dime. If by some chance you mess up your blade they'll replace it for $10.

Really considering trying out the Kershaw Camber, not sure that I'm crazy about the assisted opening though. At $64 it seems pretty decent for EDC.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a knife without it after using it. Nothing but good things to say about it.

The blur is a fantastic knife. Kershaw is right there with Benchmade with quality and value.
Can't go wrong either way. Do you carry yours with a clip?

I have one of these that I have used and abused. It is kind of small and took some getting used to, but it takes an edge pretty easy and the edge holds up pretty good.[IMG]
It is a Gerber Mini fast draw tanto box. It is a spring assist opening blade.

Another vote for kershaw cryo 2.

I rotate between that (summer) and a spyderco (fall winter) for grip and profile purposes.

Yeah a clip is a must.

Narrowed my list down to these:

-Kershaw Camber: S30V steel, 3 inch blade, 3.8 oz
-Benchmade Mini Grip: 154CM steel, 2.9 inch blade, 2.8 oz

The Camber is really similar to the Blur, except it is slightly smaller/lighter with a flipper instead of the thumbstud and better quality steel/blade shape. Think I'm gonna test it out for only $64 plus free shipping and snag a mini grip later on if I don't like it.

    Here's a pic:

I like it. Actually if I remember right, the S30V steel is a nicer steel also, sharpens much easier. I like the plain edge also, to me if you keep a plain edge sharp, it'll cut anything a partial serrated will.
