Pro Comp 6" stage 1 lift advice

So, my 2018 4x4 CM has 10k miles on the clock. About 3k miles ago, I had the Pro Comp 6" stage 1 lift installed. After 3k miles, the front end sits about 3/4" higher than the rear. I called Pro Comp tech support to ask if there was a way that I could replace the current stage 1 kit's preload spacers with a shorter one to drop the front end to level. The Pro Comp tech guy said "I do not think so" and "it will probably screw up your steering geometry and thus you will not be able to get accurate alignment". No definitives. When I asked him why no definitives, he stated "well, I have never worked on that particular lift before". UGH! Now look; I know that I could install longer shackles in the rear to lift the rear and get it close. BUT, I would rather drop the front to level for numerous reasons (most importantly, I do not want the drive shaft to have to angle down more). Do any of you have any ideas, knowledge or advice that could help me in this situation?

What’s the preload spacer situation. Is it multiple pieces?

 

Here are the Procomp preload spacers that I removed. I could be wrong but it looks like a 2 inch lift preload..Do they make a 1 inch preload spacer ? If so, It should work and won't change the travel..

 

How tall is the strut spacer piece? 4 inches?

 

I never measured mine, but yea looks like 4.

 

This may be a dumb question...did they install the add a leaf's?

Are you measuring bottom of fender to hub or ground....or just going by looks?

Assuming they got the front right, being as its just that spacer if the looks are still bothering you it may be easier to do Coach Builder shackles and get rid of the block in the rear. They come with the proper carrier bearing drop kit.

I may be getting ready to swap out my spacers and blocks for a new setup. I have 33k on mine and no issues it sits level. Just wanting to upgrade it....as long as I don't do something silly like trade it in on a new one.

You have any side pics? Pics of the wheel well and rear setup? May be able to spot something to help with.

 

I don't see any red arrows. Also that doesn't look like a stage one kit.

 

I just went outside and put a tape measure on the preload spacers. They are 4.5" tall. And yes, the kit comes with add a leafs as well as leaf blocks. Here is a pic of the kit with red arrows on the spacers:

They do show the preload spacer.... The arrows are pointing to them.

My lift measurements are from the top of the tire up to the lip of the fenders. And yes, it definitely looks higher in the front. In fact my neighbor asked me why the rear end looks lower. Hey, I'm not the first with this kit to mention this issue.
Regarding the shackles: Yes, I could go with shackles to lift the rear end up higher to level it out. But I would rather drop the front a little so as to prevent any further angle of the driveshaft as well as other reasons. I just want to know if you all have any views on this. Will going with a slightly shorter preload spacer screw up steering geometry and/or prevent correct alignment from being achieved?

 

Also, the bed is empty and devoid of any mods. I have not added an armored rear bumper either.

 

Those are the strut spacers. The preload spacer is the rubber piece that fits inside the shock assembly

 

So I was looking at the install instructions and the driver and pass side spacers are different...at least by part #. I doubt this would cause an issue but they say to make sure the notch is pointing out(page 16 of the install instructions).

I can't answer your question on a shorter preload spacer. I don't know if they even make a shorter one. The alignment part will always be the tricky part(at least in my experience) I have had mine done 3 times in the last 18 months. Once by a local tire shop that found the crazy problem, then 2 days later by Toyota to "verify"my complaint and then again a few months ago just to make sure its still as good as it will get(still not in factory spec's) But they can't get the adjustment out of the current setup.
Aftermarket UCA will help a lot with that but they can get pricy too. If you were to spring for the ones with the most adjustability up to $1400.

This will answer your question 100%.

Measure how far down the LCA mounting bolt was dropped by the lift. Im guessing its 4.5 inches

Pro comp makes a 4 inch and 6 inch lift. Ill bet that preload spacer is the difference

Originally, I was thinking the same thing about the 4" vs. 6" kit differences and mentioned that to the PRO COMP tech hoping that would fortify my position that I could probably simply swap out spacers. However, the Pro Comp tech stated that the spindles in the 4" kit are different than the 6" kit so the 4" kit spacers are not "swappable/compatible".

 

That makes sense, because when I inspected the Pro Comp 6" long travel kit on my friends 17 TRDpro it looksed a little bit tifferent. He runs 35s and the truck sits pretty high to my taste, so I'd stick with the 4" kit.

 

The long travel kit is COMPLETELY different from either the 4" or 6" standard spacer/spindle lifts that we are discussing in this thread. Apples and oranges. That being said, the long travel kit is bad ass and maybe, one day, I will move to that instead. But a super charger must come first.

Regardless, looks like there is no possible way to sub a small spacer and drop the front end. Damn.

 

You could remove the coilovers and replace with iconvehicle dynamics . They have ones made for a pro comp 6 inch lift. Much better design. I would call them to see if it available

 

Yes, I am aware of that option and I truly appreciate your suggestion. But as I am sure you are already aware, that is a $1,300.00 solution. I do not have $1,300.00 to burn right now. When I started this thread, I suppose I was hoping that someone else whom has this same lift and problem, would chime in on how they resolved it and/or whether or not switching to a smaller spacer was a possibility. Well, maybe someone out there will see this and respond.

Is this your truck? If so, did those coil-overs drop the front end a little bit? If so, by how much? What prompted you to install those coil-overs?

 

yes. it's my truck and yes I did drop 3/4 of an inch.

 

How did it affect your ride? Negligible? Any problems getting proper alignment?

 

yes, it did indeed make it a bit smoother, not a huge difference though. I drove with those spacers on for 5 years and only switched because I came across these for 250 bucks.

They are not adjustable, but who cares, it's not like your adjusting these things every other month..

Alignment was no problem.

 

If I were you I would leave the front and raise the rear 1 or 2 inches much cheaper

 

@jeremyd, Yes! I think this will work. I went to Rough Country's website and I found "TOYOTA 6in LIFTED N3 STRUTS (07-19 TUNDRA)". Does that sound right to you?
