My impatience coupled with my cheapness got the Best of me the other day. So as you know on a 2014 tundra the TSS sensor was not an option. But I couldn’t live without a 2019 Pro Grill. So I gave my father-n-law my sport grill then ordered the Pro grill, not really caring that the sensor cover cost $400 which is more than the grill cost! After many Hours of debating with myself I just could not pay $400 for a plastic sensor cover! After doing some research on size difference between the Tacoma and the tundra sensor cover, And finding out that they were very similar in size. I got online and ordered the TSS sensor cover for the Tacoma which I was able to get for $40 shipped.

Once I got the cover, I immediately went to work and this is what I came up with let me know what you guys think.

The Tacoma vs Tundra cover is a direct fit? No mods to it?

When you receive the Tacoma sensor it has three tabs on what I consider the top of the sensor. I used a dremel to the the plastic tabs to but left the two post on each bottom corner of the sensor to also use as glue points. I then dremeled a half circle in the left tab hole on the grill for the top left sensor post to fit in snugly.

I then drilled holes into two abs brackets and bolted them to the grill opening where the sensor would be placed making sure they were flush. Did a lot of test fitting at this point to make sure the mounts and sensor would mate up flush. I then used Gorilla glue (clear/ no foam) to glue the sensor to the brackets only. I then clamped the sensor to the grill for 24 hours to let dry and set. I was able to pick up the grill by the sensor with no problems, the sensor it mounted pretty stout.

Yotalou- I just used some injection molded plastic pieces from a gun holster and drilled holes in them.

jrd347 - That is weird, I went back to my purchases on eBay to send the link and it has been removed from my purchase history.

Absolutely stupid what Toyota wants for these and one of the reasons I didn’t go with that grill (also because I couldn’t find it already painted in MGM)

But for those still looking here’s a little cheaper option.

I ordered one from him over a month ago, been running the Tundra without a cover on my TSS sensor for that long haha... He had some issues at a hospital and is redoing the chemicals or something, or so he says, very very slow but for $65 I will try my best to have more patience.
