It’s edge by Heartland. Real good quality unit. We like it a lot. Heartland makes large, higher end units. This small 18’ trailer was a bit of a one off for the company and only in production for a short time.

Ya 40 is a horrible highway. We just camped at the Pierre Grey lakes which is a beautiful spot for fishing. Good with the kids too, because there is a playground right behind the site we booked. I camp at the Big Berland river in the fall usually also.

Nice, Pierre Grey is on my list. A guy at work was telling me about it.

I can't seem to drive the stretch between GP and GC without nearly being run off the road at least once by an oncoming big rig taking up my lane on a corner. Every, single time we drive it we have a near hit.

That section is brutal busy with assholes. I don’t blame you one bit for not wanting to take it. Ever try the forestry trunk road south? I used to take it when I worked in gp and it’s quite a bit quieter than the highway...

No, I've never taken the trunk. I'll have to check it out. Is it paved the whole way?

No sir it is gravel. But very nicely maintained. I guess that’s not ideal pulling a trailer. Never thought of that

No biggie. I don't pull a trailer so no worries there. Time is the biggest concern. If it's close to the same drive time as 40 its probably worth it

Yes time wise it’s very comparable. The speed limit is 80km/h but it cuts off actual distance.

@Grey Wolf... 47lbs, and carried the wife, kids, and the kitchen sink. Stable enough to stand up in, but very stable in rougher water. It has been in all of the Great Lakes, and countless rivers. The only boat I ever liked more is my old Grumman sport boat, but it weighs a ton!IMG_1227.jpg

That Souris is one my list. I have a 11 foot sit in kayak I use from Bass Pro but I want a high end canoe. Been looking at Old Town but dang, the Souris is nice as hell.

Every year souris river makes their circle tour where they deliver boats. They have some factory seconds with blemishes. Also remember that if you buy direct through souris river, they are a Canadian company and with the exchange you get 25% off. Always happy to spend other's money!

Had a blast last weekend at the lake, all the kiddos (3 girls under 7) are camping addicts... so far at least. We are waiting for our king size RTT (iKamper XCover) which we kickstarted and still hasn't shipped yet. In the mean time, our old REI Kingdom 6 got it done for the weekend. So beautiful, there's something so perfect about fire, roasted meat, and a cold brew that relaxes completely. The Tundra rocked as a camp hauler... 7 totes may have been a bit much but we weren't lacking anything! ;):dancingbacon::hattip::thumbsup:

@Openroad98 Someday you will miss that tent. Before the wife and I had kids we tent camped. Life was easy and camping was fun. Then came kid #2 and the first camper. We still love camping and the kids are all about it, but camper camping and "bigger", "newer" gear seems to dilute the experience. I miss the tent and totes. Life was easier back then.

So true... I was a purist before wife and kids, backpack and my MSR tent... the trail was my campsite. My wife and I are both willing to suffer the difficulties of "tent life" when we go due to the experience, shared memories, and uniqueness of the tent experience with our girls. Yes, you can sleep WAY better in a nice trailer, and it's easier to pack up with all your gear mostly in the RV; but something is missing. I'm excited for our rooftop tent so most of the mattress and base layer of bedding will just be up there already. Grab pillows, overquilt, firewood, food, and cold beverages, and hit the road. This is gonna be a good summer! Gotta get out there before 11-12 years old hits and they only want to spend all summer with their friends, not mom and dad. :boink::argue:

The Camp Lite camper is the upgrade to our old Jayco. It is taking us out west to the national parks in a couple of years. Same for the tundra. The Jayco was great but only a single axle. The kids are getting to the right age for the "Griswold family vacation to Wally World"

I like the concerted cargo trailer. My next camper will probably be a conversion. The trash that comes out of elkhart is designed to self destruct in five years. My current trailer is a camplite that is now out of business.

Exactly, we looked for campers for over two years, I just couldn’t get passed the level of QC their putting out. All in we’re around a quarter of the price for a similar factory build.

I believe at 11-12 they will still want to go camping and leave friends behind. So you're safe on that part.

It’s the Bluffs Campground on Carter Lake, west of Berthoud. It’s an all sports lake that doesn’t allow power boats, so if you like to water ski or tube you can actually camp and use your boat! The only downside is the campground does not have a usable beach to the water, so you do have to travel to a beach if you want to play in the water. Still a beautiful spot though.

We want to go somewhere up by steamboat this summer, not sure when it all happened but I’ve heard it’s beautiful camping up there.
