Toyota Tundra is the only truck manufacture that indicates in their user manual not to use the cruise control while towing. Purchase a truck with a towing package to tow an RV and experience cruise control disengagement and crash avoidance activation with sway control warning alarm indiscriminately during towing.
I find this unacceptable and unconventional for a pickup.
Using cruise control while towing is an expected feature. Totota should have indicated this during the sale. This would certainly put this truck on the bottom of my list for consideration. Now that I have purchased it and found this truck is not good for towing RV. Who buy a truck for towing and would not use cruise control on trips and getaways?

    Not nearly enough room here!
When I BOUGHT my Tundra, I really never planned on expecting it's 6 speed automatic transmission to do my thinking for me. When I tow and use Cruise Control, I simply keep the shifter in 'S' mode and choose the proper gear for speed, load and road conditions. Doing that, the needless and heat producing constant shifting is eliminated. There's a major problem though and it may be beyond the grasp of many......it takes EFFORT on my part.

Since you copy/pasted this to, so will I... ahem:

Have you actually tried to use cruise while towing? This is in the manual to CYA Toyota's ass for someone losing control while towing and not having COMPLETE control while towing. I bet if you look in other MFG's manuals, it would say the same.

An “expected” feature LMFAO! I always try to be nice to the new guys but this is freaking ridiculous. Using cruise control out on the flats might be OK but I still consider it unsafe. The driver should be connected to the entire rig while towing. This is about as stupid as that guy that was sleeping in his Tesla while driving down the interstate on auto pilot.

2019 with crash avoidance , yes I have. I also checked with other 2919 manufactured pickups and they does not contained this. I PREVIOUSLY pulled with 1993 F150, worked great. Wanted new truck and something different.

They way you phased it made it sound like the cruise will deactivate if you are towing. If that is the case, then you have something, but It's just some thing they put in the manual for, I presume, legal reasons.

Ever since mudflap/throttlegate, Toyota has put a lot of safe guards to cover their ass. Try going wide open throttle and hit the brake, the truck cuts the throttle and brakes.

As 15whtrd said, in the flats you "should" be ok.

Try towing with new feature (crash avoidance) can't turn this off. Cruise control and it works together.

This is not about control of your vehicle. This is sing cruise control during towing of an RV. If you have this in your MFG's, post it. I don't think you do?? Prove it?? As I have indicated other MFG's don't have this issue. Check into this before you by your next tundra.

I’m not going to let the fact that towing with cruise control is not an option in the newer tundras, dissuade me from buying another tundra. The last thing I want someone towing a trailer doing, is kicking back so comfortably they might fall asleep. My 2015 will let me. I’m sure they implemented this because of the adaptive BS in the newer model. Your old 350 didn’t have those features.

OK, Just don't use cruise when your feet, legs, etc. ache on long trips.

If you get enough rest or you should stop and get rest when you are sleepy. CRUISE CONTROL AND SAFETY FEATURES ARE FOR THE BETTERMENT OF INTELLIGHENT DRIVER TO ENJOY THERE TRIPS OR DECREASE THERE WORK LOAD STRESS ON THERE BODY.

Do the other brands have adaptive cruise and “don’t run over the pedestrian” features? I’m asking as I really don’t know. I’m saying it’s going to be legalez for momma Toyota’s sake.

Only use for highway driving. This issue happens randomly but often. I have F150, Chevy Serria older trucks and this not an issue. Talk to different(GM, Ford, Chrysler) and they do not have this issue.

My 1st choice was a dodge RAM. Wish I would went with my 1st though.
