    Hi All,

New to the forum, but long time lurker.

Currently I am in the process of gathering all my pieces for the build:

    • Toytec/Eibach 3” lift coilovers
    • OME 2864 2” lift rear coils
    • SPC UCAs
And still trying to figure out my tire situation.

But here is my question, does anyone know someone or is currently running Toytec’s 3/2 lift for the 2nd gen Sequoia?

Link: I am planning on running the same rear set-up as I had a pair of brand new Eibach coilovers fall into my lap for a steal. Wondering if the misalignment spacers are a “known” product or if anyone has any ideas what is needed here?

    Here my Tree stands pre-mod:

Thinking about rolling 295/70r18 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws on the current Tundra wheels I already put on.. just kind of hit my current spending limit as I have already gathered all parts mentioned above.

For the time being I copped some 275/70/18s KO2s with 60% tread from Craigslist for $200, but that was when I thought I was going to be running Bilstein 5100s.. so am pretty sure they might be looking just to small when I slap these lovely Eibachs on.

Haha, I wish I could afford that.. this is kind of like my budget build. If I had that kind of money I’d probably start with a newer sequoia haha.

Ps. This is my wife’s car, she got jealous when I finished building my ‘09 DC Tacoma, so don’t need to get too crazy as this will mostly be the kid hauler and to put the other soccer moms in their places with their fancy new SUVs

Gotcha.....are you going for looks or performance or a little of both?

Personally I'd say check out the Cooper ST MAXX, but they're on the pricy side. I've got them on my Tacoma and they're killer. KO2s are great too, but I hear after ~30k miles they lose their wet traction (not sure how much rain you get in Cali)

Ya, I can’t say anything bad about the ST MAXX’s, that’s what I run on my tacoma too, 255/80/17s, and I love them=).

Don’t have to worry much about the rain for most of the year, but agreed. The KO2s were only intended for a temporary fix anyways. I am definitely on the look out for some lightly used 34” - 35” r18 tires though.. anyone see some laying around in the California Bay Area markets let me know:fingerscrossed:

I'm planning the same thing this fall with our 2012 3/2 lift and 295 70 18s, and 2014 tundra front end swap. Better check those eibach, people on here were having problems with then not getting the amount of lift they claimed.

I have definitely seen this thread, that Sequoia is glorious. Will definitely take me many baby steps to get there haha.

This thread was also one of the reasons why I asked about the use of the OME rear coils, even @Jbtaco2002 used the dobinson’s in the rear which are only 1.75” of lift. I was really hoping to find these OME 2864s discussed for use in the rear of a 2nd gen sequoia somewhere, but have had zero luck.

Thanks for the heads up. You have any specific threads you can point me to? I have combed the catacombs of Eibach discussions and found nothing bad on here... but I suppose even if it’s not a full 3” I won’t die. I got them brand new for $350 including the diff drop kit, so the price was worth it for the time being.

Looking for some quick thoughts.. this seems like the deal to jump on:

Any insight appreciated, but seems hard to pass!

Also believe I have finally carved out time this weekend to put the coils and UCAs up front.

So got the SPC UCAs on today and installed the new Toytec Eibach coilovers.

Making an appointment for the rear coils to be put in. Have messed around in the rear end of this car before adding a 1.5” spacer and it was crazy/scary getting the spring back aligned after compressing due to the angle of the independent rear suspension with the tires off the ground.

Here are some pics... as a note, re-calibrated SPC UCAs post the close up pics upon reviewing install instructions a second time and seeing I had them inversed/backwards, would have been a camber nightmare!

    2FD2367E-E3CB-47B0-9CE3-8B0EA1FBC05B.jpg

    74940EB5-0727-46B9-895A-0F574BDA1D7E.jpg

So I was sitting at 35” in the front on both sides, and am now sitting at 38.75” have only driven a few hundred yards so I am sure these will settle in nicely at the 3” range or more.
*Note: the truck has 180k miles, so am sure sitting at 35” in the beginning was due to some very tired front coils. This why I achieved a greater than 3” lift.

Also, replacing UCAs was super easy! So much easier than my ‘09 tacoma where I had to bend a bunch of sheet metal and still barely got the bolts free. 1 10mm nut and another 12mm bolt to move a wiring harness and then the wing nut and another 10mm nut to allow the “unstrapping” of the battery itself to push aside was all that was necessary!

Will get tires on this week (275/70/r18... for now ;)) and hopefully pending my local shop can have the rear end done be end of week.

    Cheers all!

So unfortunately given the holiday, can’t get the truck into the shop until Monday the 8th. Excited to get these 1.5” spacers out of the rear and get the OME coils in the rear.
Which will soon be for sale if anyone is interested. Just eBay 1.5” spacers.

Still not sure how we are going to customize the rear 5125 Bilstein shock mounts to sit aligned appropriately in the rear, but will snap a photo when all done as I have seen many people struggle on how to get an affordable non customized shock for the rear end when lifted 2” or more. Just need some misalignment spacers, but hopefully can provide an actual part number shortly so anyone stumbling across this in the future can re-produce.

    Cheers!

So question, with this 1.75 lift are uca’s necessary? I’ve read that’s needed at 3+

Hey, so am not sure what 1.75” lift you are referring to... I put a Toytec Eibach coilovers in the front, which advertised a 3” lift, but as my post above states I achieved about 3.75”, which will likely settle down closer to 3”. So I wanted to put the SPC UCAs on to make sure I could get back into some nice green alignment numbers...

But I did have Bilstein 5100s on before these Eibach coils, and had them set at the middle setting (which provided about 1.75” of lift), and was able to get back into alignment nicely. Definitely not perfect specs, but all were in the green and and drove straight. Didn’t have them on more than 1 or 2 k miles so cant confirm how my tread wear would have been.

FYI, my Dobinson's rear coils are the 2.5" lift variants, and I actually got 3" out of them right after install. Not sure they've settled much but it rides perfect with the king's .

I have "Tundra lean" on front drivers still and I'm thinking 1/2" spacer there will level this thing out.

Ahh, sorry man... I read that part of your thread a few times, and could have sworn you mentioned that you only got xx increase in lift and therefore concluded on only having the 1.75” lift coils...

I definitely thought your rear end looked nicely level for 1.75”, but should have confirmed with you. Now I am just hoping these OME coils for 2” lift is enough to level me out... guess I could always put the 2.5” Dobinsons in later.. not sure why I can’t find those for sale on their own website =\.

Thanks for the correction in my understanding!

Was able to get the 275/70r18 KO2s on yesterday... they will work for the time being, but definitely could be improved with 295/70r18s easily.. but those will have to wait for an increase in my project funds..

Here’s a quick pic, and the rear end is still sagging, but should be fixed tomorrow!

So unfortunately the shop did not have a big enough “Clam Style” spring compressor to get the OME 2864s installed.

It’s interesting, instruction and other threads state to use the OEM spring compressor (#27035) for this install, but what they fail to mention is that the bolt head is too large to fit through the hole in the rear independent suspension. Thought this was perhaps a personal problem, but my shop ran into the same issue this why they had to use a clam style. This wasn’t an issue when I installed my 1.5” spacer because all I had to do compress the coil in position and then slip the spacer in, never having to actually remove the spring..

Still scary though, as the spring then is out of alignment, and you need to use a ratchet strap or something similar to pull it back into place.. below is what ended up happening to me..(note: i do not have the luxury of lifts or even a cement pad to work on):

    0CF74957-7B7B-4659-825A-78A5CBD34236.jpg

Having said that, they did at least get the 5125 shocks installed. They placed some metal collars to act as misalignment spacers, but definitely only a temporary fix. Will be looking for something that is actually designed for this application.
    41BAD9BF-975B-4BD1-A229-2E8AA4C8C9B9.jpg

In all, upgrading the shock to the 5125 actually relieved some tension in the back-end as the stock shock was actually limiting my lift from the spacer more than I had thought.

Here she sits now with the 3” Eibachs up front and the 5125 Bilsteins and 1.5” spacer in the rear.. looking pretty level to me, but since I already have the 2864 coils, I might as well use them.

Definitely Agreed! When doing the spacers I had the compressor slip, just about jumped out of my skin...

It was after this incident that I learned the compressor has two arms, one shorter and one longer.. it seems intuitive to place the longer arm on the upper side of the coil and the lower on the lower side of the coil, thus sitting nice and straight in the internal diameter of the spring... But I would recommend not to do that. Instead place the shorter arm on the higher side of the coil towards THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. This will not only allow the spring compressor to bite the coil better and not slip, but it will also help to off-set the misalignment of the drooped independent rear suspension causing the rear spring to want to aim towards the wheel well. Second side I did was definitely more straight and didn’t slip once, far less scary... also recommend an impact wrench as that is terrible to do by hand.. if anyone reading plans on doing this, feel free to hit me up before hand for some extra knowledge of what not to do.

    Cheers,

Hey thanks for the reply! Would love to see some pics of your rig and hear how it rides and what tires you have been running?
