Great info here, especially with this Florida rain almost every day in the summer. Gonna go get some Rain-X wiper fluid tomorrow.

I have tried the RainX that is applied directly and had issues with haze/visibility. Gave up on it. Then several years ago I decided to try the RainX bug/washer fluid. It works great for me in Southeast Texas, one of the wetter places in the US. Without it the windshield does not shed rain well; with RainX washer fluid, it is almost as good as the directly applied stuff, but without the haze. If it seems to stop working, hit the washer fluid button. It is good stuff.

Not sure if you’ve decided on a product, but G1 from Gtechniq is a great product! Also, I would recommended Glassparency. This requires an authorized installer but it’s great stuff!

I have to agree with the others who live in high-humidity areas. I live in Florida, and ever since I put rainx on my windshield it’s an absolute byotch to get the dog off of it in the mornings. I’m trying to figure out how to get the residual off of my windshield. Maybe in low-humidity areas like Arizona it works better but here in the land of humidity, it’s HORRIBLE!!

Had this exact, same problem: I liked the way the product dispersed the rain, but I t-totally HATE A hazy, greasy looking front glass.

I forgot about that, it's been so long since I used RainX: but yeah, it was HORRIBLE for that in Missouri.

Have you noticed any issue with your wipers sticking?

Love 845 elsewhere but have been hesitant on windshields because I've read about wiper chatter.

I even used it on my glass shower doors inside!

I use the rain-x windshield washer fluid and also use beadmaker on the glass. It works great.

These days I use the windshield washer stuff, but I was a big Rain X user for quite a few years. The easiest way to apply with no fogging or greasiness was to do it while I washed the vehicle. Use glass cleaner and get the windshield really clean, apply Rain X, then gather my supplies and begin the car washing process. It washes off in the process of washing the car and good for a month or so. Repeat in a month. Same steps as before, just a different order to them.

    Interesting update on this:
I had tried about 20 different products to clean my windshield - I did small test areas in different places on the wind shield - everything from Windex, goo-gone, goof-off, gasoline, amonia based cleaner, chlorox based cleaner, dish soap; nothing worked. I had these spots for probably more than a year. Then I took the truck through the car wash once, which I typically don't like to do, and it came out crystal clear. I have no idea what type of product they used, but it has been 2 months now and it still has zero spots. I had the top package - wash, wax, spotless rinse etc. Best $20 I have ever spent.

No issues with rain-x here. I'm in the high humidity of Florida.

I have used Collinite on my windshield with no issues with the wipers. I find that only a tiny amount is best. While it works well, I still have had better results with Rain-X. Beadmaker is in between the two.
