Getting ready to upgrade the internet at the house and this is why....
What are current speeds y'all are seeing regardless of supplier.

 

You need an upgrade

 

That's awful.....my last test from home was at 150.62 Mbps (download) and 14.48 Mbps (upload). - Cox Communications in Phx.

 

Hmm....looks like I need an upgrade also now.

 

Verizon FiOS Gigabit connection. No issues. Costs $80 per month

 

Wow, that's a great deal. Cox has their Gigablast here, but only in certain parts of the city currently.

 

In our neighborhood the only options up until this point were only Wireless providers. We recently approved a new contractor to come into the neighborhood and lay conduit for fiber. We should be getting our install done within the next week or two. And we cannot wait for that upgrade to take place!!

 

Holyshit that's impressive! I can't say I've ever accessed the internet with that speed!

 

Also depends on the devices being used. I have Ethernet cables to the cable box/smart TV, Apple TV and PS4. Don’t see those speeds when using iPhone/iPads

 

We have nothing fancy. 2 laptops and 2 Samsung phones. That's it!

 

No Apple....I like it.

Ah - Verizon Fios I wish they were nation wide. TWC/Spectrum/comcast etc would be shitting bricks.

Also keep in mind that when a company says they offer "gigabit" speed, 1 Gbps, or 1,000 Mbps, that is over a hardwired ethernet connection. NOT your typical Wi-Fi connection, where a lot of different factors can affect wireless connectivity speeds. Distance from Access Point/Router, obstacles, interference, etc. So wireless connection you may see anywhere from 200 Mbps to 600 Mbps on average over a gigabit speed connection.

I’m an Apple person. Their ecosystem sucked me in years ago. At work we usedMacs too. Expensive stuff

 

I've always been used to Windows and Android. We have a Mac at home and I hate it....can't find anything I need, even simple stuff. No Word, No Excel....who does this?... My wife and kids all have iphones and I'm content with my HTC10, although the battery is taking a dump.

 

Interesting that your upload is faster than your download.

 

I would be ok with those numbers.

 

Can't get over the fact that you can only use their stuff from their store. Seems kinda communist to me

 

I haven't used a Mac since the 8th grade. Hated then and never tried to use again. This new job gave me an iPad and I use it as a fresbie more than work

 

It’s a money maker, how they got to a billion dollar company, they did a deal with charter communications to sell their devices if they want to play in the mobile field with their new MNVO
