rear shock replacement video ?

why is it so hard to find one?
it seems simple enough but i'm good missing shit and making it harder than it should be

 

Is there a particular thing youre stuck on? Its pretty simple. I jacked it up, dropped the axles most of the way to full droop. Pulled off the top nut. Pulled bottom nut, smacked the bolt out with a hammer then removed the shock down and away

 

i couldn't figure out how to delete the post.
yet i figured how to put the shocks in.

I didn’t even jack it up. I can’t remember which end I bolted up first(top or bottom). Then I compressed by hand and bolted up the other end. It wasn’t easy but I did it.

Don’t even need to Jack the truck up. Loosen top nut. Loosen bottom bolt and remove. Remove top nut. Remove shock. Insert new shock in top mount. Loosely install nut to hold in place and push the shock up by hand till you line up the holes and slip the bolt in. Torque to spec and yours good to go.

 

Depends on what kind of shock you’re putting in. Oe shock can be collapsed by my daughter.

Yes it does. My fox 2.0s on my last Tundra were easier than my Bilstein 5100s on my current truck.

 

I’ve done it the same way on my last truck. This time I had my truck jacked up but didn’t remove the wheels nor did I have it completely off the ground.

 

Got around to replacing the rear shocks with 5100's. First time doing a shock replacement so I felt more comfortable jacking the truck up and removing the wheel. In hindsight none of that is necessary. With jacking up and tire removal total install time for Both sides was about 30-45 mins. Super easy to do and made a nice improvement over the stock rear shocks.

 

Just wanted to share some insight because that top nut just whipped my ass for close to 2 hours. I couldn’t get a crescent wrench or any variety of wrenches to bite on the bolt itself (it seemed a little rounded from the wrench slipping off). I wound up cutting the boot and holding the piston rod right below the rubber bushing. This was much easier then holding it above the nut where there is no space.

I've replaced rear shocks on my previous vehicle (2002 4runner) but just to make sure I do things correct, should I torque with suspension loaded or while its in the air on jack stands is fine? I know the leaf springs and u bolts are done with suspension loaded on the ground. Thanks
