    @Sting Ray

What was included, the sensor and the computer assembly? Besides the instructions?

I have been looking in my 2018 SR, but I don't have the 2 plugs, one to plug into the GBS and the one for the Computer Assembly. I have searched all over, no luck so far.

I have the software too, went to security, it said I needed to turn it on in options, turned it on and saved it, then went back to security and it said I have to turn it on. Went back and it was on.

Does the SR not have the installed security system? I even bought the Security Horn and Security Horn Relay, plugged them both in, still nothing.

Just at a loss here what I may be missing.

I have a 2017 SR5, I activated the alarm with techstream worked like a champ. The glass breakage sensor can with the microphone that goes in the switch panel and the eu that bolts up under the dash.

I've tried to activate with techstream, no luck there. Went to Options and turned it on, then back to security and it says I need to turn it on. Went back to options and it shows as on.

Not sure. I turned the alarm on before I installed the sensor. Worked great, installed the sensor, calibrated it and it worked fine.

Worked out great. Install not bad, just be careful with clips when removing pieces.

tacomawv and joonbug...have either of you been able to get the alarm to work? I have a 2015 SR5 with 4.6. I have used techstream, turned alarm on but I can't get the alarm to actually go off.

Do you have passive arming turned on? Mine is turned on...60 seconds if I remember correctly. Shut your truck off, but do not set the alarm with the remote and do not lock the doors. Put your remote far away from the truck. The alarm should set after the present time. Open the door and see if the horn goes off. That is how I tested mine. On my 13, the passive arming sets the alarm but does not lock the doors though...so don't get into that as a habit.

So you're telling me you don't lock your doors. You just turn the truck off and walk out and assume the alarm is activated. So then what happens when you come back, you just press unlock? I'm sorry but that just does not make sense but I still tried it and it didn't work. I went back in and played with the "passive" setting and some of the other settings but to no avail.

The lock light blinks as soon as you remove the key as that indicates the engine immobilizer. That light blinks regardless if I don't lock the doors, lock the doors or lock the doors and wait, 30sec, 1 min or forever.

I honestly am thinking that the 4.6 is missing some piece of hardware. I'm not going to assume the GBS sensor solves the problem either cause that is made to be an add-on to an active alarm.

Aftermarket might be the only option but that's not really what I want either. Any other thoughts out there?

I dont leave them unlocked. Thats just how I tested mine. I have the 4.6 in mine and no GBS. I will have to look at my settings to give you any ideas to check. I havent been in Techstream in a while.

Ok, I understand what your saying. There are no other settings in Techstream. I have security turned on under "other settings" and that should be it. I have to be missing something else.

Can you check your fuse box if you get a chance. Do you have a fuse where I have a red circle? Thanks

The only other thing I can think of is the hood switch jumper connector. Mine just has the dummy connector (I believe).
    connector.jpg

Part of the GBS installation instructions involves removing the dummy connector and adding a hood switch jumper connector (But only if you don't have this hood switch pre installed).
    dummy.jpg

    Could this be the issue?

When you say activated, do you mean with techstream? I can promise it has been activated inside techstream...unless there is an issue with the cord I am using or the techstream software I am using. I have used two different computers and turned it on and off multiple times. I was able to change other setting; seatbelt alarm and unlock all doors with one push of unlock so techstream is definitely working.

I do have the sticker. I also do not have the SR5 upgrade package. Maybe something inside of that package is what is missing.

Tundra234...do you have the SR5 upgrade package?

Technically yes if you have a V8 and you have Techstream software (or go to dealer). However as you can see from my issues, that is not always the case. I have found a couple other people that have had a similar problem to me but have not narrowed down why yet.

Same with me. I turned it on with Techstream but not sure if it's actually activated. I've never heard it go off. I tried locking the doors with the windows rolled down, waited 30 seconds, unlocked the door manually from the inside, and tried opening the door. But the alarm didn't go off. Just kinda forgot about it after that. Let me know what you come up with.

Do you have a SR5 model? If yes, do you have the SR5 upgrade package? Looks like you have the 5.7L, is that true?

Yes, SR5 and 5.7L, but no SR5 upgrade package I believe.

Do you have a front bench seat with the shifter on the stearing column or do you have front bucket seats with the shifter between the seats?

You are correct, you don't have the SR5 upgrade package and I think I can narrow it down to that now.

So you think the alarm can't be activated if we don't have the Upgrade package? Interesting. Let me know if you find out more.

Mine is a 2013 SR5 with the 4.6. I went to the dealer initially and they told me I didn't have an alarm, and even showed me a printout of the trucks build. They showed me a screen on the TechStream but I didn't look at it that close. A few months later, I bought the cable and turned it on myself. I don't know how the service tech didn't see it....it was pretty easy to get too. Mine definitely goes off. If I disarm the truck and open a rear door and not the drivers door, it will definitely let you know...LOL.

Thanks Tundra234. One last question...do you have the front bench seats or bench seat? 2013 appears to be a little different as it was the last year before the refresh in 2014.
