Hypertech - though be warned of their known issues. MIL due to MAF faults and loose terminals in the connectors. From the sounds though Hypertech has GREAT customer service!

Bullydog just released a tuner as well.

I added the drop in filter in July and called Hypertech because there wasn't an option for drop in filter. They told me to run the stock setting. No problems till I added the exhaust. Guessing that it opened up air flow just enough to throw the sensors off.

Some people run drop ins with an aftermarket CAI setting with no DTC issues. Just a thought.

Good thought. I was going to call Hypertech to check with them if that is an option, vs just making the change myself and hoping it works.

I throughthis up in another thread but I figured I'd start my own about the Bully Dog Performance Chip...Couple questions... sorry im a newb:annoyed:

    1. This I'm assuming is a better option than the hypertech inceptor because of the code problems?
    2. Will this be affected at all cause I have an S&B CAI?
    3. Does this calibrate the speedo for bigger tire size? If not can it be used in conjunction with the hypertech in line speedo calibrator?

    Pros......Cons?

Hey Dustin, I can't comment on the Bully Dog programmer, but I installed the hypertech speedo calibrator and it works great for tire size correction. If you do the hypertech speedo calibrator, leave the usb cord hooked to the in-line unit under your dash so you have easy access to the cord for any corrections needed with your laptop computer. It took sometime back and forth, but I got my speedo dead nuts with this product. Again sorry I cant comment on the programmer.

From what i've read, the bullydog is easy to to install and take out when you have to take the rig in for its servicing

Bullydog is definitely better. But hypertech is easier to install and remove.

Either will void the warranty if there was catastrophic failure and it was still on the truck when you send in the truck for the warranty work.

Moral of the story, run bullydog and if the trick blows up remove it.

What is noticeably gained from installing these? I installed a plug and play on my last NA gas truck and all I noticed was a governor change and option to remove the rev limiter.

better throttle response, quicker off the line, revs quicker, speed governor removal, slightly more decisive shifting,

overall just a little better driving truck.

The gt was a great piece back when it was released like 15 years ago.

But like cell phones, tuners have evolved and that is what the bdx is. An iPhone style tuner versus a flip phone (gt)

The bdx brings bullydog into the 21st century.

Tunes are the same. And download procedure is similar.

    Wifi capable. Modern day.
