Coachbuilder +3’s/TRD swaybar help

I have the TRD swaybar and @Coachbuilder1 +3 shackles. We are installing them now and the sway bar is contacting the leafs after the addition of the +3 shackles.

What am I doing wrong? I’m fairly sure others have run the sway bar and +3s.

Will it correct once I add the tires and get it off the lift?

I'm just here to follow this post... I have the Toytec shackles at 1.5" and they're not contacting my rear sway bar... But I've been looking at switching to coachbuilder +3's, so I'm here for the advice.

It’s clean because it only has 2000 miles on it. But this forum said I must mod or I’m a big loser. Soooooo...

I’m 95 percent certain it’s the human that’s wrong here and not the hardware. This is my first go at this stuff and my friend is a professional mechanic. So we are thinking we did something wrong.

 

This forum would be correct.

Also, I just went and looked at my toytec shackles and they're not anywhere near the sway bar... I know mine are only at 1.5", and the +3's are at 1.75".... But that does seem odd.

I’d be willing to bet your paycheck that it’s because your suspension is fully unloaded

 

I’m thinking it’s something as stupid as once we lower it and the weight is applied to the tires, leafs and shackles that it will be fine. But I’m not the mechanic. So we are working on other stuff now until we figure it out. AKA a genius here tells me how to un$&!k myself.

You might want to read the coachbuilder group buy thread. People talking about having to flip the rear sway bar with +3’s.

 

Thanks for posting.. Once the rear suspension is fully assembled and the truck is back down on the ground you can then re connect the sway bar end links.

** With the +3"s installed we are still within range for the sway bar to function correctly

That sway bar is installed wrong. Look at how your vertical bar is attached at the end link. Yours is installed on the inside which puts it against the leaf pack. Look how mine is installed on the outside. Notice the mounting configuration of the upper bolt to the frame as well. Looking at the pic again, the passenger side is correct. See page 4 for correct configuration.

 

Ya that arm that goes up Needs to go to the outside of the frame

Not a problem at all. I was aircraft maintenance and a jet engine mechanic on active duty for 24 years so I still have a good eye to catch something like that lol.

 

Sway installed like this will make it work. I’m at CB+3 as well.

 

The issue with his was the end link on the drivers side was mounted wrong.

 

Is that how it’s installed from the factory? Getting CB+3’s installed in a couple weeks and have the rear sway bar installed from the factory.

 

No but some guys rotate the ubolt mounts that way for different reasons. The OP's end links should be on the outside. The pass side is correct but drivers was not.

 

I was actually asking about the picture @4Runner posted, but based on the comparisons of pics from him and OP it looks like his is rotated up? Guess I’m trying to figure out if I need to let my installer know about anything beforehand or not with a factory installed sway bar.

 

I’m just posting that I have TRD RSB, TRD exhaust, and CB+3 and this is what was needed to clear springs and exhaust. Oh yea, muffler hangers needed as well. Regardless of the links. Hope this helps.

Everything squared away now?....I'll be adding the +3's here as soon as the group buy happens (also have the RSB installed).

 

We both have the Rear Sway Bar, TRD Exhaust and AMP Step . But I don't have that nice Decked system on mine ....

 

The @DECKEDUSA systems is phenomenal. I can’t recommend it enough. If you don’t have a very specific everyday need in your truck bed for the deep bed you should really look into it. It’s a buy once cry once thing. Pay the money. Instal it. And once you get all your stuff organized in it and still have some truck bed to use you will wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. It was the first thing I did to my truck.

Just noticed you also flipped the ubolts on the swar bar. Can you confirm if that was also required to clear?

 

@4Runner is the one who did it first and passed on that info here in this thread to me. I don’t know myself if it is “required” to clear but when multiple Toyota techs all go “that’s way better” then I digress to their knowledge.
